Chair's Message:

'Tis the season……to dream of racing!

Well at least your Lake Ontario Offshore Racing committee is!!

We have some exciting news for the 2023 season

For 2023 we’d like to welcome back the HUMBERVIEW GROUP of Automotive Dealerships, well known as DriveHG.ca. They have extended their commitment through 2023 as the Title Sponsor for LOOR. The focus of this partnership will be on the Susan Hood Trophy Race, the Lake Ontario 300/600 Challenges and the Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing (LOSHR) series. We are very proud and excited to continue working with the Humberview Group as our Title Sponsor for these offshore events. Over the past seven years Drive.HG’s enthusiasm has resulted in a higher level of excitement on the race course and during onshore events and activities.

The LOOR committee welcomes a new member. Terry Kuehn has joined us and is now co chair with Monica. He has raced the LO300 for several years and is very enthusiastic about the LOOR events. He will also be recruiting new sponsors to our events and has some great ideas about how to best promote our partnerships. We are thrilled to have him join us!

The LO600 is on again next season so time to think about whether you and your crew are ready for that extra challenge. Even if you don’t race the LO600, all racers of the Susan Hood TR, LO300 and LO600 are welcome to join us at our post race party after the LO300/600. We have already booked the post race party on July 21 to give out flags and party with our crews. Special thanks goes to Chris Bobyk from Mimico Cruising Club for hosting next year!

Our in-person seminars are coming back this winter and both RCYC and PCYC will be hosting. Our information this year will be directed towards showing cruisers how easy and fun it is to participate in distance racing. These will be open to all racers and will also try to broadcast these online.

The LO300 and Susan Hood TR awards night was a great celebration for the trophy winners. Go to “Racer Sailor” https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083593388506 our FaceBook pictures page to see the winners.

The LOSHRS Awards Banquet is still coming up on February 4th, followed by another spectacular offshore racing season planned for 2023 including the 33rd LO300 Challenge. Dates are set, NOR's are being crafted and logistics are well in hand.

Make sure you stop by to say hello at the LOOR booth in the Sail Section during the 2023 Toronto International Boat Show, Friday, January 20 - Sunday, January 29. Pick up your 2022 flags and our special flyer about the LOOR racing events. If you are able to help volunteer please email volunteers@loor.ca. Single day volunteers get free access to the boat show. People who volunteer for more than one day will also be reimbursed for their parking on those subsequent days.

We wish you all the best for the holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the new year.
