Greetings Members,
I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that it was more “normal” than last year. CVOA is gearing up for an active winter season with many planned activities detailed in this Newsletter.
Be sure to join your fellow CVOA members at our upcoming events including monthly winter socials and the January Potluck meal and Dance. It’s exciting that all four of our 2022 ski trips are going as planned and have nearly a full complement of participants.
Thanks to those of you who have already renewed your membership. We appreciate your continued support of CVOA.
Wishing you and your families a happy healthy holiday season.
STEVE

Are you someone who would like to know what’s coming next at CVOA? Then, perhaps, you might like to serve on the CVOA Board as its Secretary. You would attend board meetings, write up the minutes, be involved with coordinating the various committees of our organization and keep the official records.
Elaine Smith has volunteered to be in charge of the CVOA Newsletter, Trip Brochures and CVOA Website.
These functions are not full time - in fact, they are barely part time. For about eight years they were all performed by one person, Cindy Foster. With Cindy moving to Colorado, we are in need of a Secretary. If you’re interested or if you can suggest or recruit someone who might be interested, please contact Thom Johnston. The best way to reach Thom is by email at:
cvoa.vicepresident@gmail.com or by phone at 207-852-3595.

Farewell to Cindy!!
December 5th Noon to 2pm
We Wish You Well in Colorado!!
Behind the scenes at CVOA, there are members who quietly contribute much to our success. For the past eight years, one of them has been Cindy Foster. She keeps track of our 1,000 plus members, publishes the monthly newsletter, designs brochures for our trips, works with the range, sends out notices (like this one), processes the mail and maintains our website. Along with these, Cindy has served on the CVOA Board and as its secretary. We have relied on her institutional memory, conscientious and careful work, and her common sense. We will miss her steady hand on all things CVOA.
In early December, Cindy will move to Colorado to be closer to her family. CVOA, the Sugarloaf Ski Club and the Sugarloaf community want to thank Cindy for all her contributions. Come join us Sunday, December 5 from Noon-2pm, at the CVOA Range as we extend our appreciation and best wishes to Cindy Foster. Details of the event are below.
Happy Trails to You…Cindy Foster!!
Come to the CVOA Shooting Range, just north of the Sugarloaf Access Road on Rte. 27 Sunday, December 5. From noon to 2pm CVOA and the Sugarloaf Ski Club will gather to thank our hard-working CVOA Board Secretary and member, Cindy Foster, and to wish her well on new adventures out West. The outdoor setting will not deter us, as good companions, fire pits and hot cider will keep us warm. Please join us for this celebration of a true contributor to the Sugarloaf community.

Hello All,
At this time, we ask that you discontinue use of the Trap machine. The Trap Field is not plowed for the winter and the Trap machine does not do well in the extreme cold we experience at the Range.
Our Pistol and Rifle Ranges will continue to be plowed and accessible during the winter, as is the bathroom which is heated. Please remember to follow all posted rules and shoot safe.
Thank you all for your continued support and use of the CVOA Neal Trask Range.

Range Secretary

Pre-Turkey Trot
Friends - Food - Laughter and Sunshine!!!
A special afternoon was had by all on Saturday, November 20th. Twenty-one CVOA members gathered at Nancy Makin’s home, walked nine holes on the Sugarloaf Golf Course and returned to Nancy’s to gather around the fire pits with hot cider and a variety of appetizers . . . chatter and laughter were in abundance.
Food, as always, was delicious and plentiful.
Nancy’s fabulous Pasta Faggioli and Jeannette’s scrumptious Corn Chowder, hot bread and fabulous desserts warmed us and filled us up.
This outing was the first of many to take place this upcoming season. What a great time to be a member of CVOA as we return to outdoor activities and winter fun!!
Come join us at our next event!
Nancy Makin & Jeannette Parker
