National Hunger & Homeless Awareness

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness is celebrated each year on November 12.

It creates awareness about the big problem the less fortunate face in society. Many homeless people are wrongfully thought of as criminals or miscreants.

Along with being discriminated against, the homeless population is also treated unfairly and unkindly by residents. National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness campaign hopes to educate people on the reasons why people become socially displaced.

To help bring about awareness on this cause, encourage friends and family members to support any local organizations that help people find jobs, permanent homes, feeding programs and medical facilities.

Saving Tips!

4 Tips To Save Money This Christmas

1. Start a Christmas Fund

Save money each month in a Christmas 2022 fund. One of the best options is a Christmas Club Account. Another option is to do your gift shopping throughout the year.

2. Use Your Loyalty Cards

If you don’t have a loyalty card, get one ahead and collect points until the holidays.

3. Abandon Your Cart

Abandon your shopping cart! Failing to complete your order will make companies want to tease you to get back. And the way they do that: by offering you discounts. This is a good saving tip in general, regardless if you’re shopping for Christmas presents, birthday gifts, etc.

4. Find Deals on Each Website

A tool to help you get the best of coupons is Honey. All you need to do is install the browser extension and it alerts you on the current offers whenever you visit a website – this includes discount codes and rewards like gift cards.

Golden Rum Cake

Ingredients

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix

1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix

4 eggs

1 cup dark rum, divided

¾ cup water, divided

½ cup vegetable oil

1 cup white sugar

½ cup butter

Directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan. Sprinkle chopped walnuts evenly over the bottom of the pan.

Combine cake mix and pudding mix in a large bowl. Mix in eggs, 1/2 cup rum, 1/2 cup water, and oil until well-blended. Pour batter over chopped nuts into the pan.

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean, about 1 hour.

Meanwhile, combine sugar, butter, and remaining 1/4 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens and slightly darkens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining 1/2 cup rum.

Let baked cake sit in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate. Brush glaze over top and sides. Allow cake to absorb glaze and repeat until all glaze is used.

Funny Corner

A couple was Christmas shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve and the mall was packed.

As the wife walked through the mall she was surprised to look up and see her husband was nowhere around. She was quite upset because they had a lot to do. Because she was so worried, she called him on her mobile phone to ask him where he was.

In a calm voice, the husband said, "Honey, you remember the jewellery store we went into about 5 years ago where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we could not afford and I told you that I would get it for you one day?"

The wife choked up and started to cry and said, "Yes, I remember that jewellery store."

He said, "Well, I'm in the bar right next to it."
