OUR HOUSE Volunteer Group Leader Testimonials

"2017 will be the start of my fourth year as an OUR HOUSE group leader. I came to OUR HOUSE as a child when my father died from cancer. At 11 I had no idea what grief was and how to handle my feelings. I am deeply thankful for OUR HOUSE and am happy to help others go through the most difficult time in their life. "
Sarah, 28

Grief Support Group Testimonials

"My daughter attended a support group at OUR HOUSE when her uncle, who was like her father, died. I can't explain how much OUR HOUSE helped our family through that difficult time. My daughter was able to connect with other children and know she wasn't alone."
- Kristine, 44
"When my mother died I thought I wouldn't be able to connect with anyone again. Nobody understood what I was going through. Then I found OUR HOUSE. Without my group members I would have never been able to get through my grief. OUR HOUSE made me feel supported and that is what my mother would have wanted."
- Jacob, 54

Grief and the Holidays
The holidays can be a very emotionally challenging time for someone grieving or for those who are around others in grief. Knowing how to navigate through these weeks can be especially uncertain for those who have recently experienced the death of someone close.

Fredda Wassermann, Clinical Director of Adult Programs and Education at OUR HOUSE Grief Support Center has written a helpful article for The Huffington Post regarding grief and the holidays. Click here to read more.
End the year strong.

"I will always miss my daddy, but because of group I can have happy times now."

One in 20 kids under 18 experiences the death of a parent or sibling.
