Habitat Executive Director Godfrey Wood to Step Down
After many years of leading this respected and vital organization, I have decided to step down as Executive Director as of the end of this year. I will be working with the Board of Directors and staff to assure a smooth transition. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is in a better position than it was when I joined, and I am proud of the work we have all accomplished. I plan to continue to consult for Habitat on key programs and pending opportunities.

I wish you all a very Happy Holiday season, and a wonderful New Year.

Make Homeownership a Reality for Deserving Maine Families!
Like everyone around the world, 2020 produced some challenges for us here at Habitat. Despite that, we are proud to say we've started work on two new homes in Freeport called Freeport Woods. In early 2021 we’ll be able to say “Welcome Home” to two deserving Maine families. They’ll embark on a new journey of homeownership, allowing for safety, stability, generational prosperity, and more. We need your help to build these homes. We hope you’ll join us in making this dream come true.
“Our family will be forever thankful to Habitat for Humanity. The people who work at Habitat and the volunteers have provided a home where we are raising our family and a homebase for us to go out and do good work in the world ourselves. It was obvious that every person we met along the way at Habitat wanted our family to succeed, that kind of support is a rare thing. Also, it is fun to still see the disbelief on the kids' faces when we tell them we helped build our house!” Habitat homeowner Zach

Thanks to our Supporters!
We owe a huge thank you to the Greater Portland Board of REALTORS for their Habitat for the Holidays online auction! The auction was live for two weeks in November and featured dozens of incredible items that brought in hundreds of bids. Thanks to their efforts, they've raised $25,000 and counting!
Thank you to Portside Real Estate Group for their November event, Hops for Habitat at Home! They typically has an event at Oxbow Brewing every November that benefits Habitat. Since they were unable to do a physical event, they created a deal with Oxbow that allowed people to purchase a curated 4-pack of beers for pick-up. The fundraiser raised over $6500!
Work with Us as an AmeriCorps Construction Leader!
For one year, you can get paid to build sustainable solutions in our community, gain valuable hands on experience, and prepare for your future. This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset.

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.
Critical Home Repair
We've been busy with our Critical Home Repair program this Fall. This service helps low-income homeowners make needed repairs so they can live in a safe, healthy, and affordable home. Seven projects were completed between September and November, allowing these homeowners safety and peace of mind.
