There is an old Zen saying that you might have heard before. It goes like this:


You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day. 

Except if you are too busy, 

then you should sit for an hour


I simply love this quote. And the reason I am mentioning it today is simple. The Holiday season is upon us, and so is all the "busyness" that tends to come along with it. This quote is a perfect reminder to prioritize our practice, no matter what kind it is, when we have more on our plate then usual. Often we end up doing the opposite when we feel over-loaded, stressed or pressed on time. Instead of taking the time for the practice that helps us stay more centered and calm, it's the first thing we remove from our day. So, just a gentle reminder to stay with your practice during these upcoming weeks. It's when many of us need it even more.

On a different note, this time of year also brings snow now and then. I am already seeing that there is a possibility of a few inches this coming Sunday and Monday. So I will take this opportunity to make sure that all of you who take classes on a regular basis, are aware of how I go about possible cancellations due to snow.

I will cancel class by email, and email only. I always attempt to let you know an hour before class. If you are ever  in doubt about the road conditions, most likely class will be cancelled. But if you haven't received an email, feel free to email me to inquire. My first concern is our safety traveling back and forth to the studio. So if I end up holding class but you do not feel safe driving, please stay at home and enjoy the snow!

6:30pm - 8pm

T ake time and refresh both your energy and body with a mix of gentle stretches, supported  postures, breathing and meditation.  This class will calm and energize organs and muscles and  heal the effects of chronic stress and busy-ness. Leaving you with a sense of well-being and balance.  Karon will guide you through a series of restorative yoga poses, using bolsters,  blankets and belts.  Each pose will be held to encourage a safe, deep opening and a soothing  release by candlelight. Exchange $25.

Karon Shovers is a E-RYT-500 Certified Anusura Yoga instructor with a private yoga practice,  who brings more than twenty-five years of teaching experience to groups, individuals and  facilities including doctors and nurses at Weill Cornell NY-Presbyterian Hospital.
