December

Newsletter

Hello St Philip Families,

We hope every one had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We can't wait to hear about all the adventures families went on. It's hard to believe December is here. This is such a busy time of year. These next 3 weeks are going to fly by. We hope your family is able to slow down and appreciate all this holiday season has to offer! If you would like to find a few ideas for Christmas gifts for your teachers, please look at the Bells and Christmas trees that will be hung up this week in the Preschool entrance. Each teacher has a list of some of their favorite things!

Please supervise students playing on the Northside of the building after school. We can't have children climbing the fences to the playground or neighbors yard with the ducks or playing in the ravine area with tall grass. It is causing skin irritation and messes with draining water from the property. Thank you for your help.

Barnes and Nobles is hosting a

spirit weekend for us this weekend

12/5/24 - 12/7/2024

This is a BIG fundraiser!

When: Friday 12/6/24 - Sunday, 12/8/24

Where: Barnes and Noble on Wadsworth and Bowles

8136 West Bowles Avenue

Who: Share this flyer with anyone and everyone; family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and teammates.

What: Anyone with an in-store purchase at B&N this weekend just needs to show the flyer with the barcode and SPELC will receive a percentage back. Online purchases will not qualify, items must be purchased in-store. This event is perfect for gifting- books, magazines, music, kids toys/accessories- there’s a lot to shop and cross off your list while helping SPELC reach some fundraising goals for paint, carpet, playground improvement for teachers and kiddos and more!

SPELC will have a table set up outside the store on Sunday 12/7/2024 from 10-4! Stop by and see your favorite staff members and meet the SPELC board members

Registration Form Link

Enrollment starts on Monday, December 8th at the drop off table. This process is a first come first serve basis. Ms. Jess and I will have a table outside (weather permitting) or inside at the church entry (in-front of the church office) collecting completed forms. Each response will be timed and dated to ensure fairness.

Pre-K students: please fill out our registration form. Once the Universal Preschool program has their form ready I will send out an email to those enrolled in the class. The UPK (Universal Preschool Program) is the program where the state funds most of your tuition for the year. UPK is hoping to have their registration open in January. SPELC will need to charge families a minimal monthly fee this year along with the UPK funding. We are only able to offer 3 class schedules with UPK funding.

  • 3 Days a week- Monday/Tuesday/Thursday ($45 a month) state funds 10 out of your 12 hours week
  • 4 Days a week- Monday - Thursday ($40 a month) state funds 15 of your 16 hours a week
  • 5 Days a week- Monday - Friday ($55 a month) state funds 15 of your 20 hours a week.
  • 2 Days a week- Wednesday/Friday is not funded through UPK, tuition will need to be paid for by parents. State will only fund 10 hours or more a week and this option is only 8 hours a week.

Please email questions or concerns to Amy or Jess

We appreciate all our families and can't wait to have another year with everyone!!

Giving Trees:

This season, we invite our preschool families to take part in our Giving Trees, located in both the preschool entrance and the church entrance. Each tree is decorated with tags representing items our teachers would love for their classrooms.

To participate, simply select a tag, purchase the item listed on the back, and hand-deliver it to the classroom noted on the tag. Every donation—big or small—directly supports our teachers and enhances the learning experience for our students.

Thank you for helping us spread generosity and joy throughout our school community this season!

We’re so excited to share a new ongoing fundraiser that will run through the rest of the school year—and make your gift-giving easy and convenient! Through RaiseRight, you can purchase gift cards for everyday shopping or special occasions, and a percentage of every purchase will be donated back to SPELC. It’s a simple way to support our school while doing what you already do—shopping and gifting.

Whether you use the cards for your own purchases (like weekly groceries) or as gifts for the holidays, birthdays, or other celebrations, every order helps SPELC. It’s convenient, and it works!

Check out the website and sign up today!! Please use this

Outside time and colder temperatures:

This is the time of year the weather changes and we start to see more cold temperatures. Please remember we will take the kiddos out everyday as long as it is 32* or warmer Please send in snow boots, coats, gloves and hats when snow is on the ground. If all students in the class do not have the correct winter gear the class may not be able to go outside. Please make sure to label all your kiddos things so we can make sure all the gear goes home with the right child.
