Annual Pot Luck Lunch - Monday, December 1, 2025

Focus Fiber for December will be our traditional Pot Luck annual lunch. Location to be announced, so please RSVP by emailing info@vmota.org for more details.
What is Focus Fiber? Focus Fiber is an open and collaborative space within VMOTA that fosters growth and connection among artists working in fiber and textile arts. The group meets regularly to share projects, exchange constructive feedback, and support artistic development in a welcoming and respectful environment. Open to all VMOTA members engaged in fiber and textile work, Focus Fiber offers a platform for artists to build confidence in sharing their creative expressions.
Focus Fiber meetings are the first Monday of the month.

PARTNER HIGHLIGHT
Exhibition Opening at CECUT - Thursday, December 4, 2025

We are excited to share that our recent exhibit, We Are Voices of Other Voices, which highlights a collaboration between artists from throughout Mexico and artisans from Oaxaca, is opening at CECUT in Tijuana on December 4th. The opening event will take place at 7:00 P.M. and is open to the public for those that are able to and comfortable with crossing the border. A map to CECUT, the cultural center of Tijuana, can be found through the link below.
More About CECUT:
CECUT is a cultural center of Mexico on the border, founded on October 20, 1982. It is the institution that concentrates the widest and most diverse cultural offer in the northwest region, and the only infrastructure of the Ministry of Culture, formerly the National Council for Culture and the Arts, outside the capital of the country. It is committed to meeting the artistic and cultural needs of this population, through programs that include various artistic manifestations and themes of traditional and contemporary culture.

DECEMBER FIRST FRIDAY REMINDER
Welcome Blanket Project

As participants in this project, we invite you to join us for the December First Friday event (December 5) to help create a knitted or crocheted blanket and a quilted blanket as symbols of solidarity and welcome. The final blankets will be responsibly distributed through the local organization Helping Empower Community Refugees. Positive messages to blanket recipients by participants will be included with the blankets.
This program was made possible through the Arts District Liberty Station Funding Program.
This opportunity is free and open to the public; individuals of all levels of experience are invited.

CREATE A UNIQUE SMALL GIFT WHILE LEARNING A NEW SKILL!
Macrame with Sitoë Thiam

Join artist Sitoë Thiam for a fun craft night, learning tools to explore macrame in a way that feels true to your artistic expression. In this workshop, students will learn what macrame is through an engaging lecture and then have a chance to create their own small tapestry. Your finished piece can be hung as holiday décor, given as a gift, or used to uplift your workspace. This class is geared toward beginners but open to all experience levels. Grab a friend and join us for a relaxing night out amidst a busy holiday season.

Visions Museum of Textile Art celebrates and advances contemporary quilting and textile art through exhibitions that explore cultural traditions, contemporary relevance, and innovative creativity.
We invite all artists who work within a textile medium to submit a proposal.
PLAN AHEAD: The open call for our international juried biennial, Quilt Visions 2026, begins in January. This call is specifically focused on fine art quilts.

Bead Embroidery on a Used Baseball Workshop - January 25th
| | | | Join ARTwear artist, Maracole Bijoux, for a colorful workshop where you will learn how to embroider beads on a used baseball to make your own take-home piece. This intermediate class invites students who are comfortable threading a needle and working with beads to enhance their skills by beading on an unconventional surface. Interpretations 2025

We are proud to exhibit Interpretations 2025, the museum’s 26th international juried exhibition. Exhibition jurors, Holly Brackmann, Luisa Gil Fandino, and Paula Kovarik had the daunting task of selecting standout pieces from over 400 submissions. The juried pieces include textile art that explores form and technique of 2D artworks, 2D art quilts, and 3D wall hanging and free-standing work that highlight fiber. Each piece was created with artistic excellence, inviting the viewer to look closely to see the intricate detail. You won't want to miss this!

Juried for the print exhibition by the Fiber Art Now creative team, the art in this exhibit was designed to be worn on the body, created from fiber and textile materials, and constructed using fiber and textile techniques. These innovative pieces elevate what's possible in the wearable art space.
