This past month we were honored to be featured in an amazing article written by our colleague Ashley Carter at Pathfinder Strategies, who recently served as CCW Sector Lead liaison, where she supported and was a true champion of our work as Sector Lead the last two years! Her article explores the value of sector-driven workforce systems, and features CSTP as an example of what’s possible when states invest in sector intermediary organizations.
Our work as Sector Lead has allowed us to be present in more spaces with people who are invested in these critical and urgent workforce needs within our Washington state teacher workforce. It continually presents us with incredible opportunities to serve as connectors between people doing great work across different regions, and witness the innovative and passionate movers and shakers that are working to build better systems to support our kids in K-12 and into their dream careers.

| | League of Education Voters Podcast | | |
In a recent podcast episode, League of Education Voters CEO Arik Korman interviewed John B. King, Secretary of Education under President Obama and currently the chancellor of the State University of New York (SUNY), the nation’s largest comprehensive system of public higher education. Secretary King discussed how important it is for every student to have at least one caring adult in every school building, how we can shift mindsets so educators believe that every student can learn, what the value is of public K-12 and higher education, and how he would change our nation’s education system if there were no budgetary constraints.

| | WSAC: 2026-27 Financial Aid Applications Now Open | | |
High school seniors and others can now apply for financial aid for the 2026-27 academic year. Applying for financial aid is a crucial first step toward college and career training. Completing a financial aid application opens up more options for the future.
In Washington, there are two ways to apply for financial aid. U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens can apply for both federal and state aid with the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). People who are ineligible to file the FAFSA, or who choose not to, can apply for state aid only with the WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid). The FAFSA and the WASFA opened on October 1, 2025, and both are now available.
The Washington College Grant (WA Grant) is one of the most generous and flexible programs in the country. Through WA Grant, about half of families in Washington can get free money from the state to help pay for career training or college. Learn more here.
