** NEW Medical Form Update **

**Please note that we have a new medical form that must be submitted every year,

effective immediately. With this change, Special Olympics Virginia no longer requires a doctor's signature.**

Before athletes can participate, they must have a current athlete registration and

medical release – dated this year - on file. If athletes arrive at practice without

these, they will NOT be allowed to participate.

The IMPACT Award, established in January 2022, is given to an athlete and a volunteer who has contributed to our organization in a way that exemplifies our commitment to respect, teamwork, and unity. Their behaviors and attitudes show a dedication to making themselves, their teammates, and their communities a place where people are valued and encouraged. These individuals promote behaviors and practices that lead to a healthier lifestyle, including sports, friendship, and acceptance.

The November Athlete Award goes to Hannah Sheehan.

Hannah is an amazing athlete and has been a part of cycling, swimming, and basketball over the past five years. She also participated in the triathlon Area 14 offered last month. She gives her all and is vey respectful of her coaches. She is a light that attracts others and she is very social with fellow athletes. Keep shining Hannah!

The November Volunteer/Contributor Award goes to Sofia Schmidmeier.

Sofia has been an amazing volunteer and leader for our athletes for cycling, basketball, and swimming. She is a trusted ride leader on the cycling team and will go with any level of athlete she is asked to assist. In basketball, the athletes love seeing her and group around her, as well as the coaches. She is always focused, reliable and positive with athletes and pushes them to do their best. She has a great personality and exudes confidence. Thanks for all of your help Sofia!
