Utah Coal Country Strike Team and Price City are Launching a Blade Sign Program

The Utah Coal Country Strike Team in partnership with Price City is working to improve Price City's Downtown through various redevelopment efforts.

The Price City Downtown District Blade Sign Program is designed to reimburse up to $1,000 per business to install blade signs within the downtown district. Business must be located in the downtown district and must apply. Applicants are awarded on a first come first serve basis

Where Do You Socially Distance?
In our last newsletter we shared the image of bikers exploring 9 Mile Canyon. This newsletter we want to show you what boulderers do in Coal Country.

The image below is of an adventurous boulderer in Joe's Valley near Orangeville, Utah in Emery County. Bouldering is a growing rock climbing sport that is becoming popular all over the world and Joe's Valley is a favorite location for world renown climbers. In 2015 a festival for bouldering began in Joe's Valley, called Joe's Valley Fest. To learn more about bouldering and the Joe's Valley Bouldering Festival click on the image below.

Price City a Pilot Community for Main Street America Program

Price City was selected by the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development along with Brigham City to be a pilot community for a Main Street America revitalization program. The program utilizes the Main Street America model of four committees; Organization, Promotions, Design and Economic Vitality.

The Organization Committee oversees the other committees in the Main Street America Program. Local business owner Sherry Nehl of Juniper Pizza Cafe is the Organization Committee chair and she has already organized a scarecrow contest, and a collectable Christmas ornament of a local historic business. The Blade Sign grant mentioned above is also part of this downtown revitalization effort.
Boulderers Loop
Castle Dale City is proud to welcome boulderers from around the world to the Castle Dale area. Lessons learned from the Price City Main Street America Program are beginning to be implemented in Castle Dale.

Instead of Main Street revitalization Castle Dale wishes to focus on the Boulderer's Loop. The Boulderers Loop is the connection of Highway 29, Highway 10 and Center Street in Castle Dale. The effort is intended to bring navigational signs throughout the loop to inform visitors of services and businesses available nearby. See the map below. You can click on the map to do a Google street view. Going south on Hwy 10 will lead into Castle Dale Main Street. Going west on Hwy 29 will lead to Castle Dale Center Street.
The Utah Coal Country Strike Team serves the coal communities of Carbon and Emery counties by raising incomes and diversifying the economy. The Strike Team includes a multi-disciplinary team of experts who, with the support of the Utah Legislature and national funder Schmidt Futures, assist with public policies and invest in workforce training, tourism infrastructure, housing revitalization and economic development incentives.
