West Virginia Central Federal Credit Union’s Core Values:

1.    Passion
2.    Teamwork
3.    Excellence
4.    Community
5.    Innovation

Over the last two months, we have discussed Passion and Teamwork. This month I would like to talk briefly about our third Core Value – Excellence.

To start, I would like to share two separate quotes on Excellence:

  1. “Excellence is not a skill. It’s an attitude” – Ralph Marston
  2. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit” – Aristotle

WV Central has defined Excellence as delivering world-class results and experiences. Officials and staff of the credit union know that excellence does not come without effort. It must be strived for in a repetitive way. For WV Central to achieve the level of Excellence that we identify as a core value we must engrain it into our lives and make it a daily habit.

If WV Central FCU is to reach and maintain the elusive status of Excellence, we will be able to truly make a difference in the lives of our members and the community around us.

I would like to share an effort that we are very proud of! Over the last three years with the help of our members, we have raised and donated $75,000 to the new WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital in Morgantown. In recognition of this, the dining area on the 10th floor will be named the WV Central FCU -Dining Area. The new hospital is going to be very impressive and the number of children and their stories are heartwarming!

Thank you for your support of WV Central, which allows the credit union to strive for Excellence!

WV Central wishes all of our members a very happy holiday season!

Four Tips for Purchasing Your Next Vehicle Online

No matter how you plan to purchase your next vehicle, the car buying process can be daunting. Fortunately, online dealers, like the popular Carvana, have streamlined the process and created more transparency in their pricing. But doing your car shopping 100% online doesn’t always mean 100% less stress.

We’re here to help. If you’re looking to purchase your next car online, check out these tips.

Tip #1: Finalize Your Financing

Before you set foot on the virtual lot, work with your credit union to get all of your ducks in a row—and most important, determine what your budget is. It’s good to get pre-approved for an auto loan so you can shop the online showroom with confidence. If you want to get pre-approved for an auto loan with WV Central FCU, contact us and we can help.

When your finances are firmed up, the fun can begin. Through online dealers like Carvana, you can filter vehicles based on your budget. It’s a great way to shop for cars you know you can afford.

Tip #2: Do Your Research

It’s not just about finding a car within your budget, it’s about finding a car that you love within your budget. Which means you’ll have some digging to do.
Are you looking for great fuel economy? Off-road versatility? Trailer and towing capacity?
Figure out what features are a must and which you can live without. Once you know what you want, it's easier to narrow down your search. And be sure to check out Carvana’s 150 point inspection which includes a CARFAX history report.

Tip #3: Test Drive in Real Life

Purchasing a vehicle online doesn’t mean you can’t take a test drive. In fact, thanks to Carvana's 7-Day Return Policy, you can have the vehicle delivered to your driveway and drive it risk-free for a week. Isn't exactly what you wanted? They'll come pick it up for a full refund.

Tip #4: Cash in on a $100 Credit Union Member Reward

Finally, if you’re a credit union member, be sure to visit Love My Credit Union Rewards and receive $100 when you purchase a vehicle through Carvana. It’s just one of the many perks of being a credit union member.

Bonus! Rate as low as 1.65% APR**

Get pre-approved for your auto-loan today and start shopping over 20,000 vehicles with Carvana all from the comfort of home!

* Valid only for Carvana purchases through LoveMyCreditUnion.org. See Terms and Conditions.

Sticker shock at the grocery store? Price hikes at the pumps?

Prices are going up and spending more for basics can be startling.

Do you remember the first time you noticed prices increasing? It often happens so gradually that we don't even notice.

Inflation is often more complicated than we realize and it'll be with us for the rest of our lives.

So, what could prices look like in 2030?

Let's find out by looking at some historical data, and projecting how prices for things like food and housing could go up.
