We have a lot to be thankful for and excited about this Holiday Season - Society for disABILITIES has purchased the property that we've rented for years!
This property (on the southwest corner of 8th and L) includes our current office and thrift store, a vacant building, and a third building that is rented out. The vacant building will become our new Medical Equipment Loan Closet storage and distribution point.
Acquiring this property helps us hit some important milestones in our service to others. Society for disABILITIES now has a permanent home - very important and stabilizing for a non-profit. The vacant building means we can get our 3,000 pieces of medical equipment out of the attic and better organized - making it more accessible to staff and more visible to clients. We also plan to add to our inventory and serve more clients. The rented building provides a revenue stream to help pay down debt on the property - the ultimate goal being mortgage-free ownership ensuring longevity of the Society!
The Board and Staff are very excited and yet there is work to be done. We will work together to utilize the additional property to its full potential and serve our clients at the highest level possible. We anticipate full use of the new space in early 2026.
