Subnasal Lip Lift

For an attractive, youthful lip several traits are common.

First, the horizontal line formed where the upper & lower lips meet is a relatively straight line with little or no down-turning on the ends. Down turning creates a sad or grouchy appearance.

Second, the height of the upper lip (from the lip line to the bottom of the nose) is approximately only one half of the height of the chin (from the lip line to the bottom of the chin)

Departures from these traits can be congenital & are commonly found with the aging process. Injectables can restore lip volume but do NOT correct these other important signs of aging. The standard lip lift has been done on older patients for years most frequently at the same time as a facelift. How the procedure is done:

The subnasal lip lift procedure is a same day surgery usually performed under local anesthesia in less than an hour.

Dr. Funcik will gently remove a bullhorn shaped strip of skin that is right beneath your nose causing your lips to appear more lifted. Doing this shortens the space between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lips and increases the show of the pink lip resulting in a more enhanced look for the lips and more pronounced curves. In an attractive smile, the upper teeth show. This can be lost with age or be a congenital trait.

Because the incision is made directly at the base of the nostrils, there is eventually little to no visibility of the scar.

How does Rejuvapen work?

Rejuvapen relies on a process known as Fractional Collagen Induction Therapy, also known as micro-needling. The Rejuvapen has several tiny needles made of surgical grade stainless steel. These needles penetrate the upper layer of skin and break up old strands of collagen in the lower layer. From there, the body’s natural healing response takes over. Your skin will produce more collagen and elastin giving you smoother, tighter, more even toned skin.

Collagen Induction Therapy is a great skin treatment method because it builds up the connective tissue in the lower layers of skin without damaging the protective upper layers of skin. The needles in the Rejuvapen are designed to be small enough so that they do not cause damage to the epidermis.

The Rejuvapen can even be used to enhance the effect of topical skin creams. The small holes made by Rejuvapen allow a topical cream to reach the lower layer of skin, the dermis, making the topical treatment more effective.

Rejuvapen also does not use any heat, unlike other skin treatment devices.
