Every person has a longing to be significant; to make a contribution; to be a part of something noble and purposeful. ~ John Maxwell
Every month I say it, but each time it is true... it is hard to believe we are already in December! We are a young school district: just five months old; or, three months with staff and students. That is not that long to grow and develop, yet we are doing just that. Each person who touches the district-- whether a student, parent, staff member, or someone who infrequently visits has played a role and made a contribution, helping to develop and shape our district to where we are now at. We aren't done, but I believe we are in a great spot, and that is because of each of you. During this holiday season, and every day, I thank you for your support and for entrusting your children with us each and every day.

Some of the new features you will like and find helpful include:
- Quick Buttons at the top right of the page. These will take you directly to the Skyward and eFunds portals, and provide you with quick access to our menu and calendar.
- Quick navigation from the district page to either school page. (Select "SCHOOLS" then scroll left for Friess Lake Elementary or right for Richfield Middle School.) Once at the school page you can quickly navigate back to the district page by clicking on the "District Menu" option in the upper left corner.
- Important News can be accessed from the District webpage, or either school page, by scrolling down and clicking on one of the three images, or the "Show More News" button. These stories, while rotating, will be featured for lengthier amounts of time.
- An "Upcoming Events" calendar is located near the bottom of the district and school pages. This will provide a quick three day outlook on events in each building. What's really neat? The events are color-corded -- so when you take a quick look, look for the red or blue dot signifying who the event is for and/or where the event is located.
- Need a more detailed look at our calendar? The softkeys on the bottom-left of the district homepage and school pages will take you to the comprehensive calendar system. The calendar can be viewed in its entirety, but can be overwhelming. An alternative is to use the "Category Dropdown" menu to show only the information you are interested in. You can select more than one calendar by right clicking on one of the calendars you wish to view, and then holding down control or shift to select one or more calendars. Then, click "View Events" in order to navigate to the calendars you selected.
- A staff directory complete with staff photos is included. While it can be accessed in a few different locations, if you use the softkey near the bottom right of the district home page you will be able to see all staff members listed alphabetically by employment location. (District, FLES, RMS, School Board).
- At the very bottom right of every page you can find our social media icons which will take you directly to our Facebook page, instagram account, or twitter account.

Dear Parents,
Just like we conduct fire and tornado drills, the Holy Hill Area School District has taken a proactive approach to school safety and also practices lock downs. Typically, we conduct two 'lockdown' drills per school year. We will be practicing the first of these this month at both Friess Lake Elementary and Richfield Middle Schools.
I am writing to enlist both your support, as well as your assistance. Our staff members will be speaking with the students prior to the drill, in order to introduce and/or remind them of the process and intended outcomes. These conversations will be age appropriate and vary depending on student grade. You can assist us in having a successful drill by providing further discussion at home.
The key messages we share are that we practice [all] drills so that
everyone
is prepared and knows just what to do in case of an emergency-- be it fire, tornado or a crisis situation (though this term is not used with our younger students). The second reason we practice drills is so that we can continue to review our systems to ensure that we are both up-to-date in recommended practices and procedures, and so that if there are any areas of recommended improvement we can make alterations for the future. Practicing these drills also gives us the opportunity to work with the Sheriff's Department, Fire Department, and our insurance company, M3. Representatives of each of these groups play key roles during the drills themselves, and provide valuable insights and feedback. Finally, we practice drills at various times during the year and day so that we can prepare for a variety of situations. This first drill will occur while students are in class. This drill will occur prior to winter break, with the date of this drill being announced as it draws near. As we continue to hone our practices, future drills will be conducted during lunch, middle school passing time, or recess so that staff and students have preparedness for these new situational possibilities.
While the drill is in progress, visitors in the building will be required to participate in the drill; those attempting to enter the building, will not be allowed access until the drill is complete. Thank you for your understanding as we work to create and maintain a safe environment for your children.
After the drills are complete, I will send an additional email to update you on our findings. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Yours in Education,
Tara

School Accountability Report Cards
|
|
Congratulations to both parent districts and all three original schools for their academic growth and achievement as measured by the Accountability Report Cards. Due to the district being new, no HHASD report card is available. Both FLES and RMS will be measured through alternative accountability measures in the future until more data is collected.
Below, please find information about the Friess Lake School and Richfield Elementary School. (Plat School data is not shown as Plat earned a score of "Satisfactory." This type of score is earned when a school is either new (this will impact FLES and RMS in the future) or when a school does not contain students in testing grades (Plat was a 4K - 2 building; testing does not begin until 3rd grade).

These meetings are open to any parents in the district, however parent representatives for each grade level have been selected to be present at each meeting based on completed surveys. The location of these meetings may rotate. Times have been tentatively set for 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., however may be updated based on the consensus of PSB members.

Amazon Smile is a program where Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to H.H.O.P.S. It’s a super easy way to raise money for H.H.O.P.S. and you can share this information with your families and friends (even if they are out of state).
|
|
|
Step 1: Log into www.smile.amazon.com
Step 2: Use your current Amazon account email address and your password (YES, if you have
amazon prime, it will accept it when you log in!)
Step 3: If you don’t have a current Amazon Account create one (Name, Email Address, and
create a password).
Step 4: It will say “Choose a spotlight or charity or search all charitable organizations” you will
want to “search all charitable organizations”, at this point type in Richfield Scholarship and hit
enter. The first response should be Richfield Scholarship Association Inc. Select that.
Step 5: Start Shopping! It really is THAT easy!
You must log into www.smile.amazon.com every time you shop (there is not an app. for Amazon
Smile, so you must go into your browser and type the address). It will recognize your amazon
prime account so you will still get free shipping with Amazon Smile.
There is absolutely no extra cost to you, or the H.H.O.P.S. program for using Amazon Smile.

This year, both building principals will be sharing weekly Friday Flyers with parents. As such, we will be monitoring the Open Rate and Click Rate of the district newsletter, and will also discuss necessity at one of the early Parent Sounding Board meetings, to determine if all three are needed and/or desired. If you have specific feedback, please feel free to contact your grade level rep on PSB, or email Ms. Villalobos directly.
