Dear Beloved Members, Pastors, and Supporters,
As the vibrant colors of fall give way to the chill of winter, we are reminded of the beauty of God’s creation and the changing seasons of life. Soon, twinkling lights will adorn homes, familiar carols will echo through the air, and the world will begin its festive preparation for Christmas. But amidst the busyness of shopping lists, holiday parties, and family traditions, it is crucial to pause and remember the true reason for this season: the birth of Jesus Christ.
The changing of the seasons is more than just a shift in weather; it’s an opportunity to reflect on God’s unchanging nature. While everything around us evolves—leaves fall, temperatures drop, and calendars fill—our faith remains rooted in the eternal truth of Christ’s love. The celebration of Christmas is a powerful reminder of God’s greatest gift to humanity, His Son, sent to bring salvation and hope to a weary world.
In a culture often distracted by commercialism, it can be challenging to keep Christ at the center of Christmas. However, as believers, we have the opportunity to reclaim the season as a time of worship, gratitude, and service. Here are a few ways to focus your heart and home on Jesus this Christmas:
1. Prioritize Time for Worship
Make time to attend special Advent services, and be intentional about reminding everyone (including children) that this season is not about Santa, Frosty, or Rudolph, but all about the celebration of Christ’s birth.
2. Practice Generosity
Jesus came to serve, and we can follow His example by serving others. Look for opportunities to volunteer, meet needs in your community, support charities, or bless someone in need.
3. Share the Gospel
Christmas is a natural opportunity to share the hope of Jesus with those who may not know Him. Look for ways to have meaningful conversations, invite friends and neighbors to church, or into your home. Let His light shine through you.
4. Simplify Your Celebrations
Focus on what matters most. Whether it’s fewer gifts under the tree, or have quieter gatherings, create margin in your life to allow for greater attention on Christ.
This season, as we embrace the traditions and joys that make Christmas so special, let us remember that it’s meaning is found in a manger, not in a mall. Jesus is Emmanuel—God with us—and His birth is the reason for the season. Let’s commit ourselves to keep Christ at the center of Christmas, and to sharing His love and hope in every season.
Happy Holy Days!
