1 - Booster Club Membership

BE A PART OF THE TEAM BEHIND THE TEAM!

Thank you to all our families who have joined the Booster Club already this year and who have stepped up to volunteer to drive JV carpools, work concessions, and attend meets, games, and matches wearing your Bulldog spirit wear (available through our School Store online and in person at the School Store on Tuesdays & Thursdays during lunch 11 am - noon). You are what makes Churchill athletics amazing. If you haven't joined yet this school year, it's not too late!

Why join? Whether your student is an athlete, a fan, or participates in PE, the Booster Club fundraises through annual membership donations to provide important resources and support to help ensure a safe, competitive, spirited, and fun experience for all!

What is the Booster Club? The Booster Club is a fundraising organization of Bulldog families that works with the Athletic Department to ensure that our athletes have the necessary equipment and facilities to compete safely and at the highest possible level each year. The county provides Churchill with only a fraction of what it takes to support our sports teams. In a typical year, the athletics budget spent per athlete (per roster spot) at Churchill is around $220, yet the County’s contribution is less than $80. The Booster Club plays a critical role in providing supplemental resources to help offset this shortfall.

100% Booster Membership Teams (to date):

Boys JV Soccer

Boys Varsity Soccer

Varsity Cheer

JV Cheer

Varsity Golf

Can’t remember if you joined this year? Several more teams are getting close to 100% membership! Will it be your team? If you can’t remember if you joined the Booster Club already this year, ask your Team Booster Rep or send an email to our Membership Chairs, Claire Drummond and Aby Filomeno, and they will check for you! Help your team earn 10% of its membership dollars and $300 for achieving 100% team membership!

**We are also looking for Bulldog parents interested in getting more involved in the Booster Club. We will have several open Board positions for the 2024-25 school year. Email Bridget Calhoun for more information and come to our January 3rd Booster Club Meeting!**

Your annual membership in the Booster Club will provide our student-athletes and teams with critical resources.

2 - Your Volunteer Hours Count!

Did you join the Booster Club or volunteer in Concessions or with the School Store selling logowear this year? If so, your company may have a charitable contribution matching program that rewards employees for monetary and volunteer hours donated to a charitable organization like the WCHS Booster Club! Two of our dedicated Board members can “cash in” the many hours they volunteer for the Booster Club for monetary donations from their employers to the Booster Club. This means the Booster Club gets a double benefit.

Booster Club Board member, Jake Lynn, puts in many hours at the outdoor and indoor Dawg Dish concession stands which helps keep the stand open and operating for our teams and fans. His employer, ICF Inc., rewards his volunteer efforts by contributing $10 to the Booster Club for every Booster Club volunteer hour Jake submits (up to 50 hours annually). In Jake’s case, that translates to a $500 donation to the WCHS Booster Club for his volunteer efforts this year!

Similarly, our Treasurer, Ashleigh O’Brien, works steadily donating her time to maintain our financial records and accounts, issuing payments and reimbursements, providing coaches and Team Reps updated Team Booster Account updates, and supporting the Board and Committees with financial reports and data, as needed. And, as a parent of a girls varsity soccer player, Ashleigh also volunteers in the concession stand. For these volunteer efforts, Ashleigh’s employer, Microsoft, contributes $25 for every volunteer hour which really adds up to a large donation to the Booster Club!

So, as the year draws to a close, please check with your employer’s HR department and take advantage of any matching donation program your employer may offer. The corporate donation match might be for a monetary contribution like your membership dues. (You could double your membership donation with a matching corporate donation!) The donation match might also include a monetary exchange for volunteer hours performed for the Booster Club like working in Concessions or the School Store. That could mean a sizable monetary donation from your your employer in your honor for an hour or two volunteering in Concessions. It’s a no brainer! Don’t delay! Check your company’s HR portal today for more details on their corporate matching program and how to double the value of your membership dues and volunteer hours in the concession stand or school store with this easy fundraising opportunity that benefits Churchill Athletics. If you have any questions or need assistance documenting the Booster Club as a charitable organization, please contact Ashleigh O’Brien at [email protected]

UPDATE FROM THE BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM:

Our boys varsity basketball team is off to a busy start. We are 3-2 after the first two weeks of the season. This week, we will face off against 2 of our biggest rivals!
