Goodbye 2025, Hello 2026!

As we ring in the new year, we are taking a moment to reflect on 2025. Here are some facts and statistics about this year at Puppies ‘N Love and Animal Kingdom:

Most Popular Dog Breed: Dachshund

While the French Bulldog is holding steady as the USA’s most popular dog breed, here in the Valley of the Sun, the Dachshund reigns supreme! With their vast array of color and coat types, distinctive long body, and their small-but-mighty personalities, it’s no wonder they’re the “wiener” this year!

Rarest Dog Breed: English Coonhound

While “classic” breeds such as Beagles, Havanese, or Golden Retrievers meet the needs of most families, we sometimes get the opportunity to match a family with a more unusual breed! This year’s rarest breed – the English Coonhound! In terms of popularity, this breed ranks 171 out of 202 breeds recognized by the AKC. It was so cool to have one of these pups pass through our doors and to be able to find them a forever family!

Hours Spent Enriching Our Puppies: 9,000+

Our motto is “Our Puppies Come First”, and we live up to that every day. Between our five locations and our corporate office, we are proud to have spent this time helping young minds grow, and we will continue our commitment to investing in our puppies’ well-being in the new year.

Puppy Messes Cleaned: Too Many to Count

But worth every second!

Puppy Love Shared: Infinite!

Whether you have taken home one of our puppies, attended one of our puppy parties, or just stopped by for a quick dose of snuggles, we are so overjoyed to have had the opportunity to spread the joy of puppies. We are honored to be a part of this community, and as we enter our 48th year serving the Valley, we want to take a moment to thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. We can’t wait for a new year full of new opportunities, events, and, most of all, more families matched with their dream puppies.

Training Classes

STAR Puppy Training Graduates: 33

That’s thirty-three puppies off to the best possible start in their new home! If you’ve brought a puppy home for the holidays, this is the perfect time to enroll your puppy in a class. Learn more about it below!

We are now proud to host two different kinds of puppy classes at our Paradise Valley Festival location. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes are open to puppies that originally came from Animal Kingdom or Puppies ‘N Love ages 6 months and younger.

These classes are all about getting your puppy off to the right start. Under the guidance of an AKC-certified trainer, new puppy owners can form a solid foundation for their puppies that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Learn more about what goes into an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class in our blog post about the subject.

SuperS.T.A.R. Puppy Classes are open to any puppy from Animal Kingdom or Puppies ‘N Love between 6 months and 1 year old. While they are intended as a follow-up for AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program, these clases are also open to puppies that are too old to participate in the S.T.A.R. Puppy classes!

This extended class set aims to bridge the gap between puppies that have completed the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes but are still too young and immature to attempt the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification. Growing puppies also have different needs than young puppies, and this class will focus more on obedience than novel experiences during their socialization window.

Fall 2025 Breeder Trip

We are proud to work with breeders that are committed to animal welfare, and twice per year we even visit a number of these breeders! Meet one of the breeders that we were lucky enough to visit just a few weeks ago - Tim Wagler of Creek Bottom Kennels!

Homes for Life Adoptions: 70

While only a small percentage of dogs end up returning to us through Homes for Life, we are honored to be able to uphold our lifelong commitment to our puppies through this program. Thank you to every soul who opened their hearts to these second-chance dogs.

We assume a lifetime responsibility for every puppy we send home. Our Homes for Life program is the result of this commitment and our dedication to preventing pet homelessness.

We understand that for unfortunate and unforeseen reasons sometimes customers who purchase our puppies can no longer care for them. For this reason, our customers agree to relinquish the dog to us, not a shelter.

We do this to ensure that we can find them a new, loving home but first provide them with the rehabilitation and care that they may need in addition to a neuter/spay as part of our commitment to responsible pet ownership.

Please help us find these babies

Who We Are
If you're new around here, please watch our newest introduction video that illustrates our mission, values, how we care for our puppies and our quality breeders:
To ensure that all of our puppies find homes in a timely manner, we reduce their price as they age.

By no means are we lowering the cost of these puppies because they are in any way less valuable, but it’s our mission to find each of our puppies a permanent, loving home as quickly as possible.

BUYERS BEWARE
ARIZONA RANKS HIGH ON BBB'S LIST OF PUPPY SCAMS COMMITTED IN 2022

In the last few years, online pet scams are on the rise and have caused grief for people seeking new pets, with little to no recourse for the victims.

According to the Better Business Bureau, Arizona is at the top of the list for puppy scams per 100k people.

California is the state with the most reported puppy scams, with 167 scams reported to the Better Business Bureau from January 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022. This makes up more than 10% of the total number of scams reported nationwide.

SPOTTING A SCAM

If you are looking for a puppy, be careful & remain vigilant!

Here is how to spot a puppy scam online from AKC:

  • No phone calls. The seller prefers to handle communication by email and not the phone. A reputable breeder will always communicate with you via phone or video chat (if not in person) before selling you a puppy. Fraudulent sellers are oftentimes outside of the U.S. and may be hiding their phone number by only communicating by email.
  • Copycat or stock photos. Photos of the dog or ad text can be found on multiple websites. Search for the text or reverse image search the photos on Google to find out if they were copied.
  • Sketchy payment. The seller asks for wiring of money or payment by gift cards. Be aware that if you choose a non-secure method of payment, it is highly unlikely that you will get your money back. Avoid paying a stranger using apps such as Venmo, as it is harder to get your money back if you don’t get what you paid for.
  • Price is too good to be true. Research the prices for the breed you are considering. Purebred dogs sold at deeply discounted prices are typically frauds. If the seller says they register their dogs with a specific organization, you can call the organization to confirm.
