To all in Savannah Presbytery,
Today I helped “deck the halls” of First Presbyterian Church in Savannah which allowed me to picture all of our churches as beehives of activity knowing you are doing the same where you are. The Advent and Christmas season is a sustained period of the Church being at its best – decorating, giving, collecting, celebrating, praying, singing, welcoming, hoping, loving, uniting.I am thankful to have a ministry here in south Georgia with all of you where hearts are knit together in the Spirit of the risen Christ.
With the beginning of Advent, our new Christian year is underway. Savor this seasonand find joy in knowing that you are not alone in walking the path of Christ. Challenging days will face us again this year – they always come. But you have committed your life to Christ and joined with others as a member or leader of a congregation and your congregation is one of thirty-two congregations in our presbytery which has some 3000 members… and your presbytery is one of 166 presbyteries in the country which, in total, have some 8900 congregations with 1.14 million Presbyterians.
In the information we share in our monthly newsletters, we hope you realize you are indeed “one in a million.” You are unique and your ministry is one of its kind for God’s kingdom. But we also hope you realize that there are many opportunities for you to walk the Christian way with others – through shared learning, worship, and mission experiences.
The Presbytery’s staff and volunteer leaders hope you will find a way to enjoy the gifts that Savannah Presbytery has to offer this year. We certainly wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Blessings,
Rev. Deanie Strength
Stated Clerk/Director of Administration
