In November, numerous businesses, families and organizations have honored our residents in awesome fashion and made both Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving wonderful celebrations. Additionally, we held our
second annual Mini-Golf Tournament, which was remarkably orchestrated by Board Member Bob Kozlowsky and his terrific team.

We are thrilled to release our 2017 Annual Report and hope you enjoy reading about all that has been accomplished a t Homes for the Brave due to your support.  
 
Our caring and compassionate staff eagerly awaits the many visits that our residents will be receiving to m ar k the December Holidays. We wish all of you a Blessed, Healthy and Happy Holiday Season.

Program Highlights

On November 9th, our Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes program was honored to receive the 2017 Founding Presidents Award from the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame. Held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, B oard Chair Rose Ogrinc delivered a powerful acceptance speech. Three inspiring women Veterans were inducted into the Hall of Fame and one of  Homes for the Brave's founders, Dr. Laurie Harkness, was selected as a 2017 Heroic Women Honoree.

Comedy Show
Another great gift idea is tickets to our Comedy Show on Friday, January 19, 2018!

Enjoy a night of laughs while helping Connecticut's homeless Veterans regain their independence. Tickets are $75 and include a full lineup of Veteran comics, dinner, and a chance to win the 50/50 raffle!

Partnership Highlights
Home Depot Did It Again!
    On November 1st, Home Depot's District Team installed a new patio, garden beds, and a welcoming landscaped display at Homes for the Brave. We are honored and humbled by the incredible volunteer efforts and monetary donations to support our Veterans.

Homes for the Brave is grateful to Newman's Own Foundation for their generous grant of $30,000 awarded  to support "ABRI Training for Success", a program providing educational and training opportunities to the men and women we serve. Thank you Newman's Own Foundation!

Meals and Donations by the Carload!
The outpouring of support by our community for Veterans Day and beyond was monumental this year and we thank each and every one of you who invited us to come and speak at your events, volunteered, prepared and served meals, created cards, and donated supplies and gifts. We did our best to post to our Facebook page but here are some of the highlights:


The SUNY Maritime Men's Lacrosse team collected and donated 2,387 razors and over 2,700 ounces of shaving cream! Way to go, team!!

Thanksgiving Dinner 

In addition to the St. Matthew Knights of Columbus Council 14360 and St. Matthew Catholic Daughters we also had Attorney Lori Dion and family present and serving. Also, beverages and desserts for both houses were provided by US Navy Veteran Big Red Nemergut.

Among so many who visited us last month, we were graced with hospitality and support from: Valley Boys, DAR and CAR Sgt David Thompson Society, Mutual Security Credit Union, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Quinnipiac University, AT&T, Kiwanis Club of Fairfield's Field of Valor, Atria, and many others, all to celebrate our Veterans!
