FYS Class

Thank you to the USJ alumnae for coming to speak to current first- year students in Dr. Jennifer Cote's class. The five alumnae: Laurette Laramie '60,  Joyce Narden '67, Christina Flood '07, M'09, Katie DaSilva '15, and Amanda Crocker '16, shared their experiences and provided advice to help students navigate the
challenges of higher education.  There were similarities and differences in experiences, but one thing remained the same: students and alumni have loved their time at USJ.

Update from the Career Development Center!

The Career Development Center is currently running a program geared toward helping sophomore students prepare for life after USJ. Starting in January, students will be matched with a mentor who will serve
Ann Perzan, Roszena Haskins M '96, Dr. Kitsia Hughey Ferguson, and
Dr. Beth Ann Smith  '86 participated in the Educators Panel, hosted by the School of Education.  The panel offered interview tips and suggestions to School of Education students as they begin to prepare for full-time positions.
as a resource, providing insight and guidance throughout the semester. The time commitment is minimal, but the effect on a student will be monumental. Please consider volunteering for this important program.

Additionally, if you are interested in exploring job opportunities, please let the Career Develop Center know so that  you can be added to an email distribution list. The Career Development Center hears from employers who are looking to hire alumni with professional experience and is happy to share the information.  Please email careercenter@usj.edu  for more information.
On November 5, 2016, Professor Dorothy Bosch Keller
M'85, C'97, DAA'99, M.Ed. and 27 alumni and friends gathered for a wonderful excursion to the Springfield Museums.  The group was treated to a  guided tour of the  American Art Collection, featuring the "Historical Monument to the American Republic," created by Erastus Salisbury Field in the Michele and Donald D' Amour Museum of Fine Arts, led by Professor Keller.  " The Springfield Museums on the Quad are a treasure I had never seen.  To be introduced to them by Dorothy Keller was wonderful.  She awes me with her enthusiasm and depth of her knowledge," says Joan Casinghino '65, who attended the trip with her husband. A heartfelt thank you to Professor Keller for sharing her wealth of knowledge and to our faithful alumni for their support.
If you would like to hear Professor Keller at a future event, please join us on, Tuesday, February 28, 2016 at 2 p.m. for her fourth lecture in the Saint John's Bible lecture series. Details will be available in the new year.

Accounting and Business  Society Annual Alumni Event
For the past 10 years, students from the Accounting and Business Society have held an alumni event consisting of an alumni panel and networking. This year's event welcomed back five alumnae: Mary Dickerson '89, Julie Unsal '99, Heather Framski '15, Jackie Steeves '16, and Victoria Johnson '16, who all had the same message to the undergraduate accounting and business students: don't be afraid to ask questions. One student, Erin Morris '18, Secretary of the Accounting & Business Society said " the annual alumni event is always a great way to network with alums. Having the opportunity to see what successful women have accomplished proves to me that gaining an education at USJ is truly preparing me for the real world."
