December 2023

A Word From Our Director

Happy Holidays!

Looking back on 2023, I'm reminded of the support we receive so that we can continue to do good in our community.

Our Loan Closet continues to be vital to the community, helping the permanently and temporarily disabled live a better quality of life. Please remember our loan closet when you have medical equipment to dispose of!

Our programs have grown and our clients are thriving among their peers. Please remember the Society as you think about where you can share your talents - we always need volunteers!

Our Thrift Store continues to provide job training to those who are disabled or training for a new career. We are proud to say we serve those who are homeless and less fortunate by offering quality clothing and housewares at reasonable prices. Please remember the Society as you clean out your closets in anticipation of a new year - our Thrift Store takes donations!

Starting to shop for Christmas? Be sure to stop by our Thrift Store at 1129 8th Street...Manager Alex Bohnet has lots of great bargains just waiting for you!

Please remember the Society as you think about year-end giving - we appreciate your support!

(And don't forget, donating your car through interACTIV Remarketing benefits us too!)

Happy Holidays and a Joyful New Year to you and yours,

Cathy

Jessa's Barnyard Buddies Livestock Experience

The Dos Palos Ag Boosters are excited to offer an opportunity for people with special needs, ages 9-21, to participate in Jessa's Barnyard Experience. Held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Los Banos Fairgrounds, this event focuses on the skills of animal showmanship with sheep and goats.

Each participant will be paired with a Buddy to learn showmanship skills. If the exhibitor wants to participate in the showmanship competition after lunch, they can "show" a sheep or a goat. The showmanship competition will be categorized based on abilities and age.

There will be awards for Best Dresses, Congeniality, and placement awards. There will be other activities including a Petting Zoo. Lunch is provided for participants and the event is free; spectators are welcome.

Pre-register before December 31st HERE.
