Martha Ministry of Spirituality

When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To feed the hungry, to release the prisoner,
To rebuild nations, to bring peace among all,
to make music in the heart.
~Howard Thurman
As we move into the celebration of Incarnation…God With Us…we are conscious that we have experienced the coming of Christ in our midst in joy and in sorrow during these unprecedented Covid-19 times. We have at the same time seen the work of Christmas lived out in amazing ways, as good people have been feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and trying in many ways to rebuild nations and tend to Mother Earth.
We pray that each of us will be blessed with a Christmas of Peace, Joy and Love as we spend time with the people God has given us and as we shelter at home and do our part to keep others safe.
May the New Year be one of finding ways to bring about the healing, which is needed at this time, for God’s people and for our troubled world.
As we continue to participate with God in the work of Christmas, let us look forward in hope to a New Year where all may realize, at an ever deeper level, our unity in God.
~Sr. Claire Mac Neil and Sisters at Martha Ministry of Spirituality

We have had a very faith-filled fall season. We decided in September that we would resume welcoming people for Centering Prayer and Oasis. We were happy to have our Resource Center where we can safely meet observing all the pandemic protocols. It was good to welcome people back into our midst after the long absence since March. Spiritual Direction takes place on Zoom and that is working very well. In November, Sr. Jovita MacPherson gave a well-attended two days on Gospel Hospitality. We thank God that we are able to offer these events even during the time of the pandemic.

The New Year will see a continuation of our offerings of Centering Prayer and Oasis days as well as Spiritual Direction

On March 15 we will be offering a Centering Prayer Workshop for experienced practitioners as well as for people who would like an introduction to Centering Prayer.
In the New Year also, there will be a presentation by Sr. Joanne O’Regan entitled The Journey to Laudato Si: A Quick Trip Through the Evolution of Catholic Social Teaching. Time and date TBA.

It is a website by Bishop Robert Baron where one can find daily reflections on the scripture for Mass each day. This would be a help in praying and reflecting on the scriptures of the day and of the season of the Liturgical Year.
