Houston Ground Angels
Management Review
December 2018

Tony Castiglie, Vice President & Treasurer

Thanksgiving brings November to an end and I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday. It really is nice to take some time and reflect back on the year, perhaps even life, and be thankful for all we have, all we are and fortunate to live in Houston, TX USA. When sometimes watching the evening news and seeing what appears to be an element of folks unhappy about so many things, I often wonder where else would they rather be? And if it is so bad, why do so many people from other countries risk so much in an attempt to get here?

How about some good news? Well, the Houston Texans just won their 9th consecutive game! How about some more? Volunteers ran 224 missions, the best November in our history. With one month remaining, 78 Volunteers have run 2,421 Missions and at this rate, we will easily pass our 2018 target of 2,600. Unfortunately, we did have 66 unfulfilled missions but that is significantly lower than the 87 we had in October. As always, the heavy hitters stepped up.

The reasons for the good news:

Top 10 Volunteers – 2018

1. Sandra Begalke 374
2. Charles Whitworth 321
3. Dick Stabell 308
4. David LaFargue 142
5. Tony LaRosa 137
6. Charles Gibson 107
7. Laurie Galland 78
8. Derek King 77
9. Bo Hunter 74
10. Maria Aranovich 63

October did bring us one new volunteer: Gemma Williams, a friend of Volunteer Dick Stabell, & she lives in Richmond. It is great having you aboard Gemma & thanks for choosing to be part of our great organization.

As written in the November Newsletter, we are exploring a possible relationship with Uber. It has been a slow process and there is nothing new to report. You will be kept you abreast of status and progress in future newsletters.

The Holiday Party is this Saturday, Dec. 8 at Cullen Oaks Apartments on the University of Houston's campus. It is a great facility, centrally located with easy access and plenty of free parking. It is the one time of the year when the volunteers get to meet other volunteers and it is a nice way to enter the holiday season. Please try to make it and bring a friend or neighbor if you choose.

When you arrive at the address, enter the driveway, go straight ahead into the parking garage & turn right. Parking is right there. After entering the building, turn left, then right & the room is on the left. I look forward to seeing many of you.

As always, to every volunteer who steps up, thanks for your contribution. 2018 is another good year. I wish all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday & hope you get to enjoy gathering with family & friends.

Sincerely,
Tony

Houston Ground Angels'
Christmas / Holiday Party,

Saturday, December 8, 2018,
6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
We hope to see all of our volunteers and spouses/friends at this complimentary party. We will have food, beer and wine, and more. Plus, v olunteers have the opportunity to meet other volunteers, and these events are always fun!
The party will be held on the University of Houston's campus, in the community center of Cullen Oaks Apartments,
4600 Cullen Blvd., There is easy access via the Gulf Freeway (I-45) or Highway 288.

The community center i s not part of the University, just on their campus. It is a wonderful community center, and the French doors open to a lovely green space.
