Charles Takes on the Nürburgring and Spa
Charles recently embarked on an exhilarating three-day driving experience at two of Europe’s most iconic racetracks. The adventure began with two intense days at the Nürburgring, also known as the "Ring" or "Green Hell." This 13-mile, 150-corner circuit—80 of them blind—is widely regarded as the most challenging and dangerous track in the world, with elevation changes ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 feet. The third day was spent at the famed Spa-Francorchamps, a favorite of many Formula 1 drivers.
The weather added to the challenge, as all three track days were held in the rain. Fortunately, both tracks required drivers to keep windows up—unlike in the U.S., where windows must remain down—allowing Charles to fully focus on his driving. Through these wet conditions, he found that driving at speed could be both safe and fun with the right approach.
At the Nürburgring, Charles completed 28 laps, covering 362 miles in total. His top speed on the Ring was 149 MPH, with a best lap time of 11:08, placing him in the intermediate skill range for wet conditions. The following day at Spa, he completed 43 laps on the 4.4-mile track, totaling 185 miles, with a top speed of 127 MPH and a best lap of 3:30—again within the intermediate range in the rain.
Outside of track time, Charles took the opportunity to explore the region, driving through Germany, France, Switzerland, and Belgium. Along the way, he enjoyed the stunning scenery, encountered a few unexpected detours, and visited four historic castles, adding to an unforgettable experience both on and off the track.
