Welcome New Business Services Representative
Antonio (Tony) Avanzato!
A Little About Tony:
" I was born in Italy, my father brought myself, my mom, my sister and two brothers to the United States in 1966. My managerial background began at a very young age with the family restaurant business.
"I owned The Italian Kitchen and Stella Luna Ristorante in Oneonta until 2019. I’ve hired, trained, supervised, and fired many in my lifetime. Owning and being in the restaurant business for most of my life, one learns to be and do everything for everyone. I love interacting with people, that’s my forte, customer service. I love helping people. Communication is key with me. I can be a leader, but I also know how to listen. As I embrace this new venture with CDO (and HMO), I look forward to collaborating with businesses and workers and try to establish a bond between the two. My connections over the years will help me to make this possible.
"I am the father of three adult kids, (with jobs), (Olivia, Gianluca and Massimo), they are my world. My beautiful wife Rosemarie teaches at Suny @ Oneonta University where she also came to study 43 years ago, met me and never left."
Employment & Training Director Penny J. Seeger says, "We are very excited to be welcoming Tony to our CDO Workforce team as a Business Services Rep. Tony will be working as part of the Business Services team and will be involved with employer out-reach, enhancing employer relationships & On-The-Job Training (OJT) development. His home office is in Oneonta but he will be traveling throughout the three counties as needed."

Veterans’ Program Office Incentive Award Recipients
"The Norwich and Oneonta offices both were recognized with the Program Year 2022 Veterans’ Program Office Incentive Award.
"From July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, both offices demonstrated extraordinary priority of service to Veterans by:
- Providing an initial assessment to a higher percentage of veterans than non-veterans; and
- Having a lower percentage of unemployed veterans than non-veterans exiting from services without a successful outcome.
"Both offices received a New York State office award to display and every staff person in each office received special award items:
- USB port
- Lunch box
- Carabiner
- Pen
"Thank you everyone for prioritizing services to our veteran customers and for all your hard work!"

Businesses: Our New York College Apprenticeship Network (NYCAN) Grant Can Help You Upskill Your Workforce
The Workforce Development Board of Herkimer, Madison & Oneida (WDB/HMO) has partnered with the NYCAN (NY College Apprenticeship Network) grant to reimburse on-the-job training costs for advanced manufacturing companies that have less than 50 employees and a registered apprentice program.
Wages can be reimbursed at 50% up to $25 an hour for six months of on-the-job training (OJT) with minimum paperwork.
The undirected funding provides many benefits for small to medium-sized manufacturing companies and ensures the apprentice is trained in accordance with the company’s standards and procedures.
If you would like to know how your company can take advantage of this funding or know of a company that would benefit, please contact Meghan McBennett at mmcbennett@working-solutions.org.

Opportunities for Job Seekers | |
"Mark your calendars for Oneonta Job Corps' Future Workforce Event: Tuesday, December 12th, from 9:30 am to 12 noon at the Foothills Performing Arts Center. Tabling will start at 9:30 am and go until 11 am, then there will be a presentation and awards from 11 am to 12 noon.
"The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of opportunities that we have for the future workforce within our communities. This includes but is not limited to grants, vocational programs, college programs, apprenticeships, recreational activities, employment opportunities, and other services that can help our future workforce be successful.
"This event will be open to the entire community but really focuses on BOCES students, high school students, college students, and their supporters.
Coming together will always be the best way to build the community and the people within it. Showing our young people that we care about their growth and that there are opportunities RIGHT HERE is the best way to ensure that the workforce continues to strengthen and grow."
