Auburn University Award for Excellence in Faculty Outreach 2023 Recipient Adrienne Duke-Marks


Duke-Marks’ record of distinguished outreach exemplifies the highest qualities and purposes of community engagement through her outreach to the youth and families in Alabama. Duke-Marks facilitates and trains agents, staff and school-based personnel to promote bullying education programs affecting more than 8,000 youth. With the support of regional extension agents, Duke-Marks’ work with the vaping prevention program, Escape Vapes, has affected more than 7,000 youth and adult participants. With a commitment to outreach that impacts, Duke-Marks has helped youth and their families address these critical issues through systematic outreach efforts that result in school and community programs, educational publications, blog posts, public forums and news. Adrienne Duke-Marks is an Associate Professor and Extension Faculty in the Department of Human Development and Family Science, College of Human Sciences

 

Faculty recipients were formally honored at the 17th annual Faculty Awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Auburn University WIOA grant and program

students from Bullock County Career Tech Centers visited the Auburn University Medical Clinic

On 10/26/23 students from Bullock County Career Tech Centers visited the Auburn University Medical Clinic. This campus visit was part of the Auburn University WIOA grant and program. Students learned about the field of medicine and were able to tour the facility as led by AU Medical professionals including a marketing specialist and a lead physician. Students learned about the over 100 employee positions just in the AU Medical Clinic alone, participated in a Q&A session with key personnel, and explored the vast opportunities available through the health care system.

On 10/26/23 students from the Bullock County Career Tech Centers visited the Ralph Brown Draughon Library at Auburn University. This campus visit was part of the Auburn University WIOA grant and program. Students learned about the university library and all aspects, levels, academics, information, and research opportunities that are available in the library and for students. They also learned about the availability of personnel to assist at the library, academic tutors, library hours, and the facility operations itself. Students were led by one of the Auburn University Libraries staff, that offered vast knowledge and insight into the learning facility and environment.
