I'll Be Home For Christmas
The Humane Society of El Paso is excited to announce the re-opening of our offsite cat adoptions with PetSmart on Montana and Petco on Zaragoza.

Our felines have been eager to meet you! If you have been considering adding a furry plus one to your family, visit either of our partnering pet stores to see who we have available for adoption. Be sure to call the store ahead of time for holiday hours.
Thank You,
VFW Auxiliary Post #8919!
It is always an honor when amazing organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States reach out to us to give us a helping hand.

VFW Auxiliary Post #8919 was founded in 1961. A few years later, the Auxiliary was formed to help veterans in our community. Debbie Christensen with the VFW Auxiliary, took the lead in organizing this holiday drive. Since October, the group collected items for our shelter residents. Ms. Christensen shared, "Because of the shutdown, we tried to come up with creative things we could do. I reached out to my commander several months ago, and he liked the idea. The more we talked about it, the more we thought it was a good project because we are all animal lovers, and the majority of us have rescues. One of our families adopted a couple of dogs from the Humane Society and I also adopted one of my own from you all, so you know it was just right." In speaking with Ms. Christensen, you could hear how close their group is and how much they love their furry companions.

We are so grateful to the members of VFW Auxiliary of Post #8919 for everything you have done for our country, and for providing food, toys, and supplies for all of our animals still waiting for their forever home.
HSEP Selected as Partner in UTEP CARES Regional Internship Program
The Humane Society of El Paso (HSEP) has been selected to host UTEP student(s) interns under the UTEP CARES Regional Internship Program. Through this 16-week program, UTEP seeks to establish new and strengthen existing relationships with small businesses, non-profit and public sector entities to open the doors for additional student engagement opportunities.

HSEP will host and mentor a student for 16 weeks (January through April). UTEP students are paid from the UTEP CARES Act funding with no cost-sharing requirements from partners. We will support our intern(s) through mentorship and a structured work-experience where the student(s) develops relevant/in-demand employment skills while adding value to the organization. Our HSEP intern(s) will have an internship job description that details the project that can be accomplished through the duration of the internship (16 weeks).

This program is designed to provide support to students and organizations during the economic downturn and post COVID-19 pandemic transition. The Humane Society of El Paso is honored to participate in this important project!
