as a Staff Member

A Master Recycler is typically someone trained in advanced recycling practices, waste reduction, and sustainability education. The Master Recycler works to improve recycling systems and teaches others how to reduce waste.

For a Subaru retailer, having a Master Recycler on staff could bring unique benefits. A Master Recycler could make the retailer a leader in sustainability. It’s a relatively small investment with big returns in compliance, reputation, and customer trust.

• Operational Waste Reduction: Retail facilities generate a lot of wastepaper, packaging, plastics, and even hazardous materials like oil filters. A recycling expert could streamline disposal and reduce costs.

Evergreen Subaru, in Auburn, ME, is a proud sponsor of the Androscoggin River Cleanup, in conjunction with the Androscroggin Land Trust.

Volunteers from Evergreen helped to remove debris and trash from the river and its banks.

The Androscoggin River cleanup efforts have been pivotal in restoring water quality, reviving ecosystems, and reconnecting communities with nature.

• The Androscoggin River was once severely polluted, largely due to discharges from pulp and paper mills in Rumford and Jay, Maine. The river often lost all oxygen, killing fish and turning water unnatural colors.
• In 2023, the Androscoggin Mill in Jay permanently closed, marking a major shift in the river’s industrial footprint. 
• Cleanup efforts are not just environmental—they’re also economic and cultural. Reviving trout fisheries and improving water quality attracts tourism and boosts local economies.
• Volunteers and conservationists see these cleanups as part of a larger mission to restore the river’s natural flow, biodiversity, and community connection.
