Hello Trinity Community!
Well if you can’t tell from the past few weeks, music is definitely alive at Trinity! What a pleasure it has been to share musical worship experiences with the ensembles and congregation. I hope the opportunities to create, share, and witness God’s gift of music help you spiritually recharge to battle the week as much as they do for me.
Advent & Christmas Season is finally here! It is the peak of the musical operations for the church. Not only do we get to experience songs only heard during this season, but it brings with it an increase of musical involvement within our services! Check out what music is planned for this month at Trinity!
- December 3rd: Advent Morning Service - HOPE
- Special Jazzy Piano Solos for Prelude/Postlude and a Christmas Praise vocal solo performed by myself.
- December 10th: Advent Morning Service - PEACE
- The Special Music provided by Hand Bell Choir.
- December 17th: Advent Morning Service - JOY
- Service music provided by Voice and Hand Bell Choirs
- Includes LESSONS & CAROLS SERVICE: A Special Program of scriptures, hymns, and musical performances following the Welcome, Announcements, and Advent Candle Lighting.
- This is typically an evening service, but it will take place in the 10am service.
- December 24th: Advent Morning Service - LOVE
- Service music and Special provided by the Worship Band.
- Pam Jones is excited to join me for an Organ/Piano duet as the Prelude.
- This morning service will also be led by members of the Worship Committee.
- December 24th: Christmas Eve Service at 6:30pm
- Bring your family or invite a neighbor to this featured evening service filled with the comfort of some of your favorite hymns, candlelight, and solos provided by Tom Danforth & myself.
- December 31st: Morning Service (New Year’s Eve)
- 5th SUNDAY HYMN SING!
- I always hear that someone “didn’t get to sing their favorite Christmas Hymn this Season.” For this hymn sing, we are going to “Journey through the Pages” of the Advent/Christmas section. If someone knows it, or if enough people want to know it, we will sing it!
For the Song of the Month, I am bringing back a song featured last year by our Worship Band on the Lesson & Carols Service: Sing We the Song of Emmanuel by Stuart Townend & Keith Getty. It is a modern Christmas hymn that has a folk vibe. Take a listen to the original version HERE. We will sing a more congregation-friendly format,
Another sort of “song of the month” will be our Advent Candle-lighting hymn, One Candle is Lit (#128 in Chalice Hymnal). We will sing one verse each week to correspond with the Advent Theme and reading. Time depending, I hope to have us sing the first and last verse during the hymn sing on December 31st. Also this month, our Sung Benediction will be Emmanuel, Emmanuel, (#134 in Chalice Hymnal). We will sing this together each week after the Closing Prayer and Blessing. Go ahead and listen to a version of this tune HERE.
Like I said, we are in the busiest season for church music. Be sure to mark your calendars for these musical worship opportunities. Please reach out to me if you have any feedback on ways to improve or broaden the outreach of our music ministry. Everyone has a voice!
Until We Meet Again

The next Saturday Breakfast Fellowship will be on the 16th of December at 8:30 AM.
This month, we’ll talk about Free Will, Determinism, and Original Sin.
This started with an article in the Boston Globe on Sunday, 11/26/23. In the article, the author interviewed a scientist who has written a book in which he argues that “free will is a myth that ought to be shattered.” This was a very provocative interview which got me thinking about free will and the concept of original sin in Christianity.
So, let’s gather on the 16th for breakfast, fellowship and discussion. I will send links this article and others which talk about free will and original sin before the 16th.
Everyone is welcome to join us on Saturday, December 16 at 8:30 AM.
For more information or to add yourself to the Saturday Breakfast Fellowship email list, please contact Tom at tomdan4@gmail.com
