MEMBER UPDATE
DECEMBER 19, 2019
MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL INFORMATION

In 2019, ARAWC has taken three huge steps forward in building clarity and credibility for Texas injury benefit programs:

1.       ARAWC Website.  For the first time in this industry’s 30-year history, we now have a  great resource  describing the history, goals, basic operation, and data in support of these highly successful programs.

2.       Political Strength.  Our government relations and public relations teams have greatly enhanced support at the Texas Capitol in Austin, with respected leadership and many new political allies.

3.       QCARE.  We’ve talked about this concept for decades. Finally, the QCARE designation defines what it means to be a “responsible nonsubscriber," distinguishing the good companies from the bad actors and renouncing the negative “Opt Out” label. Over the past two months, QCARE has only been privately shared with ARAWC members and prospects. The reception has been great.

For 2020, with your support, ARAWC will unveil QCARE through an extensive PR campaign that begins in January. We will also continue the other public relations and government relations activities that are protecting and promoting your successful Texas injury benefit programs. Please check your email for our 2020 renewal invoice and if not received yet, please contact ARAWC's Association Manager, Andrea Bledsoe-Young

ARAWC GOVERNMENT RELATIONS UPDATE

Texas Interim Charges

The Texas House recently released their interim (period between regular legislative sessions) charges. ARAWC is pleased to report that out of the 49 pages of charges, there are none involving nonsubscription.

The complete list of interim charges can be found here (click here) . The Business & Industry Committee charges are on page 7. The Insurance Committee charges are on page 27. Most notably, there is no charge relating to an intoxication presumption. Nor is there anything about medical settlements or mandatory arbitration.

Nonsubscription is officially in good shape this interim in both the House and the Senate.
