We're excited to celebrate this year's graduates! Join us as we come together to dance, eat, and cheer our next group of students. Everyone is invited to join us at this free event.
End of Year Celebration and Graduation
Tuesday, December 11, 6-9pm
The People's Forum
320 W 37th St, NY NY
At graduation, you can learn more about many of our graduating students’ Seminar projects, where they reflected on their growth as farmers and food justice activists. They demonstrated their varied experience including food justice curriculum development for youth, water and irrigation practices, agroecology, and winter farming preparations, just to name a few. Students certainly got their creative juices flowing and shared wonderful reflections about their apprenticeship, social justice, course learning, and aspirations for the future. We hope you can be there at Graduation on Tuesday to celebrate their accomplishments with us!

Say hello to our incoming cohort of Certificate students!
|
|
A warm welcome to our latest cohort of Certificate students! In mid November, we welcomed a new group along their Farm School journey. Our two day New Student Orientation included lots of icebreakers, sharing of stories, a little theater, a big potluck, and catering from one of our current students at
Khao'na Kitchen
. Their journey continues this month with our foundational course, Training of Trainers, where students explore
popular education and develop their toolkits as leaders.
We hope you may meet them soon, in one of our individual courses in Spring 2019!

A Year in Review
As we near the end of 2018, we find ourselves reflecting upon some of the highs and lows of the past year. During a recent check in, students reminded us of so much we have enjoyed this past year, and many of the ways we can continue to improve.

|
Earlier this year, one of our dear students, Massiel Rueda, in the Farm Intensive program, passed away after an allergic reaction. Massiel's close proximity with fellow students and bright energy has inspired so many of us.
We want to continue to honor Massiel, celebrating the warm spirit she breathed into everyone around her. May we continue to share the seeds that Massiel has planted in each of us.

|
Among our program highlights were many of the farm trips over the growing season, both in NYC and upstate. Here, we would like to appreciate one of the more tender moments during our visit to Mettabee Farm with some of the young ones who joined us.

"
The best part was being able to visit working farms and talking to the farmers. Also the variety of growing spaces we got to see.

"
The advocacy class with Karen Washington was great because it inspired me to get involved in local government and food justice."
