December 2013

Dear Members,

The hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season is upon us and, at times, can be a bit overwhelming. In order to minimize any stress that we can subject ourselves to during this time of the year, it is very important to keep to your regular exercise routines. Sticking to your exercise habits over the holidays not only helps you cope with the stressors of the season it also helps us to avoid the unwanted weight gain that can happen with all the wonderful dinners and holiday baked goods that tempt us. Speaking of the holiday hustle and bustle.....Have you finished your shopping?  I do have a suggestion if you are looking for a gift for that someone special on your list. Please consider a Tallmadge Recreation gift card. You can give them in any amount and they can be redeemed for memberships, programs and classes at the Recreation Center or at Maca pool! We currently have them available for purchase at the Recreation Center front desk!  Finally, on behalf of all of our Recreation Department staff, I wish you and your family a wonderful and joyous holiday season filled with love and peace.

Please enjoy this edition of your TRC member update and thank you again for allowing  us to be your place for family fun and fitness!

New Year's Day - Fitness on the First!
The recreation center will be open to members 10 am-2 pm on New Year's Day, Wednesday, January 1. Members may bring a guest, age 18 and older, for free. Member must be present when guest arrives and guests must bring a valid photo ID. There will be no group fitness classes offered.

Winter Reminders  The snow is starting to fly and with it comes the wet, white footprints tracked into our building because of the salt and snow outside. To keep the floors dry and safe for everyone, please try to carry your workout shoes into the building and put them on after you enter. This will cut down on the melting snow tracked into the building and keep the floors from becoming slick. You can stow the shoes you wear into the building in a locker or cubby.

Court and Field Limitations

Our soccer leagues began Friday, November 1. Due to the number of leagues and other programs, open field time will be unavailable or limited in the evenings and on the weekends.

Our Community All-Star Basketball leagues began Saturday, November 30. Due to this and other rentals, courts will be limited or unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays. We will almost always try to keep one court open for member pick up games; however, there may be times when no courts are open. Please check with the front desk for the exact schedule. Because of limited court time, no full court pick up games will be permitted.
