Dear Neighbors,

On Monday, December 1st, I was sworn in as Selectwoman of Greenwich. I would like to share the remarks I made at the swearing in:

"I first moved to the US at the age of 8 and I didn’t speak a word of English. Of course, I was immediately placed in an English-speaking school and my new classmates had a good time poking fun at my funny accent. Not only that, but my mother insisted on making me gourmet lunches when all I wanted was a bologna sandwich, like all my other classmates!

Between losing my accent and ditching the weird (but delicious!) sandwiches, all I cared about was fitting in.

Needless to say, I never imagined that one day I’d become a state legislator and now a Selectwoman for Greenwich, which has been my family’s home for the past 25 years, and where my husband and I have raised our 4 daughters, 6 dogs and 2 cats! It’s a true honor to serve you in this new role.

In retrospect, all the experiences I mentioned taught me to seize opportunities, work hard and do what was necessary to adapt to my new surroundings. So as Selectwoman, you can count on me to:

  • Never shy away from a challenge;
  • Approach everything with an open mind;
  • Listen;
  • And to foster inclusion and belonging because we thrive when we work together.

The opportunity to serve as Selectwoman is an enormous privilege and I don’t take it lightly. I'm here to serve everyone, across the age and political spectrums. I will look out for all the families and businesses who call Greenwich home. I promise to lead with transparency and accountability and look forward to serving you all.

Thank you."
