Many of you have heard about our new program - CASA Supervised Visitation Specialists. We have a small group of volunteers who attended special training to certify them to act as the Supervised Visitation Specialist for visits between children in care and their families. These are cases where the goal is family reunification, and we are responding to the need for qualified, compassionate people to make the visitation possible and positive.
Our current volunteers who are supervising visits are doing a great job, and Social Services is excited with what we are doing. Best of all, children are able to be reunited or moved to permanent planning more quickly because of our efforts.
We need more volunteers who want to volunteer in this way! The nice thing is that you get to set your own schedule, and it only requires 2 or 4 hours per week, and can be predictable, set schedule each week. It's definitely something you can do and also still do your regular CASA case - or, if you are on a break, maybe this would be a nice fit.
Come and learn more - Brittany will serve up some lunch and some info on Dec. 18 at noon. We will try to get some of our current Supervised Visitation Specialists to join us so you can hear from them about the experience, and how it makes a difference.
