The Basics aims to bolster brain development for social-emotional and cognitive skill building among children ages 0-5 as a sturdy foundation for school readiness. This program believes every child can be provided fun, simple, and powerful ways to enhance their brain development. There are five pillars used to encourage parents and care providers to support social-emotional and cognitive development of children. The activities included for each pillar will emphasize the importance of building that skill, how parents and caregivers are essential in facilitating skill development of young children, and opportunities for children to become better learners for the future.
Include families in the learning in this complementary family training:

CALL 911 FIRST
Wandering is a critical safety concern for many individuals and families in the Autism community. Because of the potentially dangerous outcomes, accidents, injuries or drowning, wandering can be a stressful and anxiety-inducing experience for both the individual and their family. Whether you are the parent of a child who has eloped, a family member, educator, provider or part of the greater community, it is imperative to know what to do to help prevent wandering or a tragic outcome when someone wanders. The most immediate message is to encourage families to CALL 911 FIRST if a child is missing. Seconds matter and getting the assistance of the police can make all the difference.
