And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:38

I am very thankful for the blessings of this year and I am excited about what God has in store for us in 2020. As we prepare for Christmas and for a new year, I want to encourage you to look closely again at the passage in Luke Chapter 1. I love Mary’s response in verse 38 as she simply responded to the Angel her desire and willingness to fulfill God’s plan for her life. My prayer during this Christmas season as we reflect on the birth of Christ and His reason for being born, that we will be obedient in our lives to the plan God has for each one of us. Having a heart like Mary and being committed to God’s plan will bring peace and contentment into our individual lives as well as our churches. It is easy to become distracted and miss out in how God is trying to lead us. I know that each one of us can look back at this past year and know the times where we became distracted, but I am thankful that God is patient and waits for us to put our eyes back upon Him. I believe in the coming year God is going to do things in our lives and in our churches that will be beyond what we can even imagine if we are fully surrendered to Him. I am convinced, however, that we will have to rest in the promises of God and know that if we fully trust Him, that He will use us as we reach our communities with the Gospel! My prayer is that God will use us as an Association to love on our communities and help lead others to Christ. May this be our number one priority in 2020 and may we have a heart like Mary as He works in and through our lives!

Merry Christmas and have a very blessed New Year!

Bro. Gary
