BASQUIAT BEFORE BASQUIAT: East 12th Street, 1979-1980

The exhibition includes the entire cache of works made by Jean-Michel Basquiat during the year he lived in a small apartment in the East Village. This archival material provides rare insight into his artistic life before he was recognized as a prominent painter in the early 1980s.

Keith Haring: The End of the Line

This exhibition arrives 30 years after Keith Haring created his landmark temporary mural at the Museum in 1987. He considered that project one of his best, and it marked a new direction in his visual language that continued until his untimely death in 1990 at the age of 31.

Chocolate: The Exhibition

Chocolate: The Exhibition, presented by Flagstar Bank, travels through time to explore chocolate's rainforest origins, its use by ancient cultures including the Maya of Central America, and its transformation by the Europeans into the sweet treat that is loved today.

Chocolate and its national tour were developed by The Field Museum, Chicago and were supported, in part, by the National Science Foundation.

exploreLAB opened its premiere experience, Dinosaurs and Fossils, last month. Visitors will dig their way into the prehistoric world, discovering dinosaurs and fossils like a paleontologist, and learning what it takes to unearth and preserve these treasures.
