Your December Shalom School E News Is Here!

In Ms. Josie's PreK/Kindergarten, has enjoyed learning bible stories about creation, Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark and the Tower of Babel. We are excited to be learning the various brachot for the delicious snacks we have and reminding Ms. Josie which one we need for which food. We continue to have fun making crafts and singing together with Mr. Truman, too.
Mrs. Lisa and the 1st Grade HebrewSaurs had a great month with mitzvahs, welcoming grandparents and visitors, learning about the Tower of Babel, Noah, and much more!
Mrs. Michelle's 2nd grade class been busy hosting our "Back In Time" talk show, practicing our song for the Hanukkah program and working on reading Hebrew. We really enjoyed performing for and spending time with our grandparents and special friends at our breakfast.
Ms. Brina's 3rd and 4th grade class is always full of fun energy and eagerness to learn. They all love to do hands-on learning but they also love to take turns reading out loud when we do do lessons that require a little bit of reading. I love having open discussions in the class because it opens the floor up for all the kids to speak their mind and give their ideas, as well as giving the more quiet kids an opportunity to have a turn to speak!
Ms. Amanda's 5th grade class   learned about Maimonides Ladder of Tzedakah, which 8 levels of giving from giving grudgingly to helping a person become self-sufficient. We talked about how tzedakah is more than just giving a little bit of money from time to time, but rather it is about helping to make the world a more righteous place. Even smaller acts of tzedakah can make a big difference when we work as a community.
Ms. Emma's 6th grade class: This month our class has been working hard to create presentations about different prophets for the younger classes. We have also been learning about Jewish history around the world in the late 1800s.
