Curbside and Chill: A Weekly Raffle Series
Log Library finds for the chance to win weekly!
Did you know? Via our new program Curbside & Chill, you can log ALL your Library checkouts for the chance to win a weekly mystery prize. All media counts — not just books. :) The more items you enter (books, DVDs, puzzles, etc.), the more raffle chances you earn. Your Curbside checkout receipts will have a secret code, too, which you can log to earn ten raffle chances at once! For more details, and to register, go to nkcpl.org. Curbside & Chill is open to participants of all ages. Weekly mystery prizes await!
Don’t get bored this winter! Instead, get the goods for at-home fun via NKCPL. The Library has tons of items to help make your indoor time fly, including (more than 3 million!) books, audiobooks, DVDs, and puzzles. Browse online or in-app, then pick up your selections via Curbside!
And speaking of NKCPL's Curbside Service...
Curbside Pickup is available Monday-Saturday — and it’s so easy to use! Just call or go online to place your Library holds, or use our new catalog app. Once you’re notified via email that your items are in, call the Library to schedule a pickup time in our designated parking lot pickup area. When you arrive at the Library, just call or text the number on your parking spot’s sign to let us know you’re here. Winter Curbside Pickup hours are Mon 9:30-5; Tues, Wed, and Thurs 9:30-7; Fri 9:30-5, and Sat 9:30-4.
While the Library is holding off on hosting our Annual Holiday Tea this year, we're excited to be able to offer some festive fun online, courtesy of music students at North Kansas City High School. If you've attended the Tea in years past, you know that NKCHS orchestra students have provided some lovely, live holiday music for that event. This year, they're reprising this role virtually! Keep your eyes on our site (nkcpl.org) for a link to that performance, which will be coming soon. And thanks in the meantime, NKCHS students, for sharing your time and talents with the NKCPL community this year! Here's to a safe and happy holiday season for all.
Hey kiddos! While Santa is continuing to social distance this year, he IS still able to get your letters. Fill out the form here to have your electronic letter delivered to Old St. Nick himself. Please make sure your address is complete and correct; you just may hear back!
Did you know? Overdrive has magazines, too!
Love magazines? Us too! Which is why we're thrilled to remind you about one of our favorite aspects of NKCPL's Overdrive/Libby collection: the magazines! Overdrive houses the Library's largest digital collection, including books, e-books, and e-audiobooks. But did you know it also houses current and back issues of in-demand mags across a broad spectrum of interests? All (1,300+) titles are full-color and fully navigable, just like any other e-book you'd borrow in Overdrive.

Check out this special Christmas issue of Mollie Makes--plus tons more great content--via Overdrive.

Connect with others via an NKCPL event!
There's a lot going on via the Library this month! From near-weekly yoga (we've got both mat and chair options), to opportunities to connect with others over coloring (we supply the supplies!), to knitting & crochet, we've got some fun events on the docket. Turning 65? You can even get the lowdown on Medicare in one of our helpful info sessions. Oh! And we've started a Padlet group for food lovers. Stop by here and say hello, if you're inclined. We'd love to swap recipes with you!

For more info about these December events (including dates and times), and to register for a class, go to nkcpl.org. Once you sign up for a session, keep your eyes peeled! We'll email each class's Zoom link prior to the event.
Keep calm and craft on, December 2020 ed.
And don't forget! We continue to offer Curbside Crafts. We've got fun kits for littles, available by request, plus a number of kits and activities for older kiddos and/or adults, including some festive greeting card and gift tag kits from crafter Joy Hood; a lovely glitter-snow luminary kit, and a sweet buffalo-check wall hanger/ornament. Plus: Cocoa mug ornament kits, gingerbread house garland kits, and DIY stamped holiday card kits coming soon (within the next few days). Projects change often, and are available while supplies last. Call for info or to reserve a kit or kits. Happy holiday crafting!
