December promises to be an especially busy month for our community, from Wednesdays in Advent to the special Christmas Programs featuring the young students from Evergreen Academy.

We hope that you'll "just show up" for any and all opportunities that interest you in the upcoming season and stay tuned for even more information about all of the ways we will look forward to and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ!

You've probably seen an Advent calendar, right? Each day leading up to Christmas, you open a door, a box, or other device and receive a treat.

Every Advent since 2018, Zion & Evergreen Academy choose to give rather than receive. Again this year, we are working to stock Nina’s Place, which continues to serve over 250 families in need every week.

In next week's newsletter, we will share the list of items that are part of "giving back" to the Reverse Advent Calendar. You are invited to shop for these particular items (a great thing to do with children, by the way!) or to give financially, and we will do the shopping for you.

Worship at Zion: There's a place for you.

Christ the King Sunday

Even after Israel had experienced the vagaries of kings, the people still longed for a true king to set things right. He would have the king’s title of Anointed One (Messiah); he would be the “one like a human being” (Son of Man) given dominion in Daniel’s vision. Jesus is given these titles, even though he is nothing like an earthly king. His authority comes from the truth to which he bears witness, and those who recognize the truth voluntarily listen to him. We look forward to the day he is given dominion, knowing his victory will be the nonviolent victory of love.

Sunday's bulletin can be found here.
