A Message from the Board Chair
As we embark on a new year of promoting justice in our state, I thank you for your interest in and commitment to Georgia Appleseed. I would like to provide an important organizational leadership update. Our Executive Director Talley Wells--who has led us with enthusiasm for the past two years--will be moving to North Carolina for personal/family reasons. The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities will be lucky to have him as its new executive director.
Our Director of Projects Michael Waller will serve as interim executive director starting January 11. We are thrilled about wrapping up a successful 2019 and excited to continue our mission-driven work in 2020.

A Celebration of Collaborations: FY 2019 Annual Report
FY 2019 (July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019) was an extraordinary year for Georgia Appleseed. We collaborated with partners to improve school climate, increase school-based behavioral health services, keep children in school and out of the criminal justice system, and better enable low-income children and their families to live in safe and healthy housing.
Please see our
FY 2019 Annual Report
for more details about our accomplishments this past year and the many people, partners, and funders that made it all possible. We couldn't do what we do without the support of our statewide community.
Thank you!

Welcome, Marc Howard
Georgia Appleseed welcomes Marc Howard of Pope & Howard P.C. to the Board of Directors. Howard, named as a Top 100 Georgia Super Lawyer and as one of the Best Lawyers in America by U.S. News, received his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1993. He was then admitted to both the Georgia and Virginia Bar in 1993.
Before partnering with Geoff Pope in January of 2005, Mr. Howard spent almost a decade representing airlines and airports, trucking companies, contractors, and insurance companies. Since then, he has turned to individuals, families, and businesses in need of representation for harms caused by the wrongful conduct of others. As a congressional legislative assistant, Mr. Howard worked with members of Congress on the Transportation Committee, including the Highways and Transit and Aviation Subcommittees, of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Thank you and Congratulations!
I
t has been a season of transitions at Georgia Appleseed. We have recently said farewell to our Staff Attorney Terrence Wilson, who has accepted an amazing opportunity with the Intercultural Development Research Association as its Regional Policy and Community Engagement Director. We look forward to opportunities to work with Terrence in his new position.
We are also saying goodbye to Law & Policy Intern Ariana Peden of Emory University School of Law. Ariana has been interning with Georgia Appleseed since early summer 2019, and she has been an invaluable addition to our team. We wish her the best and hope to work with her as she grows in her career.
Thank you and congratulations, Terrence and Ariana!
