COVID-19 Vaccine Update
With shipments of the Pfizer vaccine arriving in Illinois Monday, we are receiving phone calls and emails with questions about when dentists can receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

From that initial shipment, Illinois received 43,000 doses. The vaccine requires two doses. More shipments are expected later in the week.

The planning framework from the Illinois Department of Public Health states that health care personnel and long-term care facility residents are in "Phase 1A" to receive the initial limited supplies of the vaccine. Planning continues, but those in Phases 1B and C include essential workers and adults over 65 or with high-risk medical conditions.

The following links to local health departments and resources are provided to give you more information.

CDS members practicing in the city of Chicago received an email from CDS on November 25 with the latest from CDPH. You can read it here.

As CDS gains more information we will make sure to share it with our members immediately.
Share your music
with Midwinter Meeting attendees!
Strum your guitar, blow your trumpet, bang your piano - we want to hear it!

Help the Chicago Dental Society welcome attendees to the 2021 Midwinter Meeting with a musical tribute to Chicago as only CDS members can deliver.

We are looking for those of you who play an instrument, play in a band or sing well to record a video version of "Sweet Home Chicago" on your mobile device. We will splice together submissions to create a fun video with a hometown feel for the Midwinter Meeting.

Midwinter Meeting updates
Pick your courses!
The best value for the 2021 Midwinter Meeting is the all-access package, which gives you all courses during the live, three-day meeting as well as all courses you missed on-demand through March 15. The package price is just $119 through the end of December for CDS members; it increases to $129 in January/February. Pick courses a la carte for $50 each.

If you've registered already, take a few minutes to add your all-access course package now. Click here to access the registration page.

Check out our exhibitors!
Many of your favorite Midwinter Meeting exhibitors will be back in 2021 and more are signing up every day. Keep up with the latest updates by checking the CDS website regularly for the revised list of participating exhibitors. Don’t forget: you can earn 1 CE credit every day you visit the exhibits during the live meeting, Feb. 25-27.

Individuals must register to receive CE
Dentists registering their team members need to be aware that staff members need to log in separately in order to receive CE credit. We've received questions about offices watching a CE program together -- which is a fun way to create community around the 2021 Midwinter Meeting -- but individuals must log in separately or else their CE will not be recorded and they will not receive the credits.

Registration continues!
With the Midwinter Meeting as an online event in 2021, registration is open and remains open through the meeting. Live programs will run from Feb. 25-27 with on-demand access to follow from March 1-15.

Flu vs. COVID-19 graphic added to member toolkit
We have updated the Dental Office Patient Safety toolkit recently.

Find a new infographic -- "Is it the Flu or COVID-19." This describes what symptoms are shared and what are unique to flu or COVID-19.

As a special member benefit, the graphic is downloadable from the CDS website and can be printed and posted in your office. Additional materials are still available too.

Delta Dental considers PPE costs in fee schedule
Personal Protective Equipment costs are now part of Delta Dental of Illinois' new PPO fee schedule effective this month.

Both general dentists and specialists were notified of the changes earlier this month.

Along with increases for the most common procedures, Delta Dental also considers PPE costs as part of its evaluation for network dentists’ allowances. It's important to note that dental benefit coverage varies and is based on each member’s dental plan.
