All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. II Corinthians 1:3, NLT

As a young boy, while sitting on the porch of their home just outside of the city, my Uncle shared how he could see the city lights just over the horizon. When his mother became ill and had to be taken away, he'd asked  his caregiver every so often where his mother was, and he said her response was always the same: "Look to the lights, for your mother is somewhere within the lights."

In the same way my Uncle may have received comfort during his mother's illness by looking to the city lights, we also have a light we can look to when we are in need of comfort. The Bible says that God is our source of every mercy and comfort when we need it. (II Corinthians 1:3). Whether it's the recent loss of a loved one, failing health, financial  problems or whatever may be, God promises the more we suffer, the more we can look to him to shower us with his comfort through his son, Jesus Christ (1:5).

So if you are in need of comfort today for your present situation, look to the light and you'll find your source of comfort is there.

Sharing the word,

Prayer: Father, thank you for being the God of all comfort for every situation I face. Amen.

Merry Christmas from  JStokes Writing Ministries. Thank you for all of your support of my writing ministry in 2014. Here's wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a blessed and joyous new year. And most of all, let's remember to keep Christ in Christmas this holiday season.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6
