December 2021 Newsletter
Dear valued member,

The snow and winds have ceased and the worst of the recent outages are behind us (we hope). The last two storms that blew through our area on Friday the 10th and Wednesday the 15th knocked out power to more than 10,200 and 3,300 members, respectively. Thanks to the LPEA crews, visiting crews, and dispatch for their tireless work in restoring these outages, and thanks to you - our members - for your understanding, patience, and encouragement. Your kind words make all the difference!

Electricity is a necessity, and we understand power outages are a major disruption to your life and well-being. These were the largest back-to-back outage events we've experienced since 2008, and we will use them to re-examine our practices to better serve you in the future. We welcome your comments and feedback at comments@lpea.coop.

Finally, I also want to give thanks to everyone who participated in our 14th annual "Fill the Bucket" food drive last month. Between Durango and Pagosa Springs, we collected 6,022 pounds of food and $1,403.29 in cash to support local food banks. You all rock!

Stay vigilant! Beware of scams this holiday season
LPEA usually sees an increase in scam activity during the holidays, and this year is no exception. Scammers impersonate LPEA and threaten to shut off the power. Don't be fooled!
Call to Action
LPEA invites you to help those struggling to keep the power on this holiday season. Last year, LPEA members donated more than $19,000 to help 537 families. You can donate funds in one of four ways:

  2. Call us at (970) 247-5786.
  3. Put your donation in a “Giving Tree” envelope at our drive-through lanes in Durango or Pagosa and place it in the payment drop box clearly marked at each office.
  4. Give your donation to a member service representative in one of our lobbies.

Donations will be accepted through January 31st, 2022.
