TIP FROM NIC
Those who know me know I am a huge proponent of staying hydrated. Water helps your body to maintain a normal temperature, aids in the process of flushing wastes, and helps you maintain your energy level. It also boosts your immune system, prevents kidney stones, and helps you avoid constipation and urinary tract infections as well as headaches, muscle cramps, confusion, and mood changes. Experts agree that a reasonable goal is to drink six to eight 8-oz. glasses of water per day. Unfortunately, as we age, we are less likely to feel thirsty, making staying hydrated a challenge. Be sure and keep water on hand and drink regularly throughout the day. If this is difficult, make a schedule for yourself: a glass of water upon waking, 30 minutes before each meal, mid-morning and mid-afternoon, and an hour before bedtime.

Books and Books
Pat Stewart recommends The Music Shop by Rachel Joyce. This is an unforgettable story of music, loss and hope and was named one of the best books of the year by The Times (UK) and The Washington Post.
Gayle Gottlieb recommends The Paper Garden: An Artist Begins Her Life's Work at 72. This masterpiece by Molly Peacock is like a carefully layered collage: part fascinating biography, part gripping memoir. The reader will learn about the life of Mary Delany, who created a new art form: mixed-media collage.
Joan Gray recommends The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. A remarkable novel about J.P. Morgan's librarian, Belle da Costa Greene, an African-American woman who had to pretend she was white in order to leave a lasting legacy that enriched our nation.
