For several weeks now at our weekly Commissioners Court, leadership from our Public Health Department have provided timely updates regarding the seasonal flu and flu-like illnesses, as well as COVID-19 (Coronavirus). As many of us may know, these illnesses do share some similarities and some differences. While we should all certainly take the threat of COVID-19 seriously in both precaution and response – read more about the first presumptive positive case in Tarrant County, I don’t want us to forget about the flu that has already taken the lives of approximately 20,000 individuals across our nation.
Moreover, I do not want us to become overwhelmed or frustrated trying to find reliable information about how our community is responding to these health concerns. In an effort to assist you locate as up-to-date information as possible, our office has curated a list of Precinct 2 specific links (school districts, colleges/universities, etc.) for your ease of use, please see more below.
Also, due to the rapid nature of how things are developing, including directives from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS), I encourage you to connect with our Tarrant County Public Health Department (TCPHD) who is working around the clock with many national, state and local partners and stands as the leading health authority for Tarrant County.
On a final note, County buildings/facilities are open for business, Monday through Friday, 8AM – 5PM, unless otherwise posted. We are adhering to CDC guidelines and working diligently through a disinfectant response protocol to treat surfaces, doors and common spaces.
