Our 106th home is nearing completion! Save the date and plan to join us for the Dedication on Thursday, July 14 at 6:00 PM at the site of the home (506 Wye Street, Denton, TX 76205). All are welcome to attend. Following the ceremony, we will celebrate with hot dogs, cake, and more. Thanks to a generous donor, the local Gnome Cones truck will be there offering complimentary "gnomesicles" to all - don't miss this community celebration honoring the Crawford Family!
On Saturday, June 4, volunteers from our Interfaith partner congregations came out to help build a retaining wall for this home. Not all of our homes have this feature, but with the difference in ground elevation on this specific lot, the retaining wall is necessary to battle gravity and retain that difference in ground elevation that you see here. This was a huge task that could not have been accomplished alone. THANK YOU to all our volunteers for their amazing work!
The flooring and interior doors of the home have also been installed. Our volunteers also came out in the heat on Saturday, June 11 to smooth the yard and spread Dyno dirt. Special thanks to Flower Mound United Methodist Church for generously providing lunch for all volunteers on that day.

"Day at the Dome" Capitol Build
|
Our very own Construction Manager, Adam Abujohar, and Office Manager, Nick Epperson, joined together last week in Austin with construction leaders from across Texas to share best practices, discuss construction project management, and learn about resilient building techniques.
On Thursday, they put these skills into action by joining with Habitat for Humanity Texas, state legislators, and volunteers from across Texas to come together for the second "Day at the Dome Capitol Build" to help build all the walls for a Habitat home in just three hours on the steps of the Texas State Capitol!
Habitat for Humanity Texas aims to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing solutions in Texas through this noteworthy event. Currently, millions of Texans live in a home that has a major issue from no kitchen or plumbing, to overcrowded, to cost-burdened.
The walls from this Capitol Build were delivered to Kileen, TX where the Fort Hood Area Habitat will construct the rest of the home for the Spruell Family this summer.

Meet the ReStore's amazing Cashier: Brittany Wilson! Brittany joined our team last summer, and we are grateful for her optimism and ability to learn new skills on the job quickly. As a cashier, she prices items, restocks and organizes the shelves, and schedules donation pick-ups.
Brittany finds working toward the mission of Habitat for Humanity fulfilling because it adds an incentive to work hard and show up for those in need. She also appreciates that the ReStore encourages environmental sustainability in our community, which she is passionate about, and she loves that she can learn something new every day. Brittany appreciates the ReStore's work environment, describing her coworkers as incredibly hard-working, responsible, and all-around good people who go above and beyond. Come say "hi" to Brittany when you shop at the ReStore today!
The ReStore has new store hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM on Tuesday - Saturday at 1805 Cornell Lane, Denton, TX 76201.

As you know, the Hoblitzelle Foundation awarded Habitat for Humanity of Denton County a $50,000 matching grant for the Habitat Village. Thanks to your recent financial support, we have received enough donations to meet this match and receive the grant in full. This means we raised a total of $100,000 for the Habitat Village through this grant!
What does this mean for the Habitat Village? Because of this awesome accomplishment through the support of our community, we now have the full funding needed in the bank to begin Phase 1 of the Habitat Village as planned in November!
