We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of TASC staff member, Akeem Usher. Akeem passed away on Saturday morning due to complications associated with COVID-19.
He was an incredibly positive, caring and kind member of our TASC family. Akeem had worked in the Specialized Therapeutic Services department for over two years. He was a valued member of the team and had a positive impact on the clients that were lucky enough to call him their coach.
He touched the lives and hearts of many within TASC. On a personal level, we’ll all remember his love for basketball, his bright smile and positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind his fiancé Elena Zamora; his parents Earl (Tangy) and Therese Usher; his three brothers, Earl Jr, Leon and Devon; and his two sisters, Shaheda and Shaneka. Please keep Akeem’s family and close friends in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time.
Memorial activities in honor of Akeem will be held with the following options:
Saturday, Nov. 14 & Sunday, Nov. 15 – 10AM - 7PM, at the Sanctuary in Santa Clarita. Click HERE for details on the event.
You can also send letters to Akeem’s family with condolences or positive memories by mailing them to the TASC Office (16600 Sherman Way, Suite 240, Lake Balboa, CA 91406) with the Attn. to the Usher Family.
We are holding grief support groups and counseling for the next several weeks for those that would like it. Below are additional resources within the community.
Lastly, we understand how devastating this news is, especially in relation to COVID-19. Keeping all of our TASC clients and staff healthy and safe is our number one priority. Rest assured that all safety protocols were in place and followed for this particular situation. Please continue to follow safety guidelines.
Our caring thoughts and condolences are with everyone affected by the tragic loss of Akeem.
Please continue to take care of yourselves, your loved ones and one another.
