It is with the heaviest of hearts we have to say goodbye to our dearest friend Margaret Ann Summerfield.
As many of you have known, Margaret has sewn and volunteered at Speedy Sew for decades. Margaret and Dottie have been best friends ever since we moved back to Michigan when Dad (Bert) retired from the Air Force. Margaret and her husband Jim were at almost every family gathering or social event and were constant companions with Mom and Dad. They traveled extensively on numerous trips together both personal and business related. It's a rare memory that doesn't include them since the 1970's.
Most of our long-term customers will remember Margaret as she sewed here almost every day we were open. She would help answer phones, run the cash register and pretty much help wherever needed. She was known for her helpful sewing advice to anyone who needed it and was known for her talented sewing skills. She created so many beautiful store samples that we were proud to display for our customers to enjoy. She and Jim could always be counted on to help out at our many special events over the years. She is our only “customer” to ever have their own permanent spot set up for her sewing machine that no one else was allowed to use. It has been a few years now since she has been able to come to the store and her absence has been felt by not only us but by numerous customers who would ask after her all the time. It just hasn't been the same without her.
It is a tremendous loss for not only Dottie and our family, but also for our Speedy Sew family too. We will always remember her as a major part of our lives and memories.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jim and their children, Ann and Jim Jr. and their families. We loved Margaret and truly know how much you are grieving because we feel the same way.
We love you Margaret, Rest in Peace and God Bless You.
